Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1978

1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40 in outstanding original condition. The most coveted year of the FJ40s and last year of the classic round bezel. 95,232 original miles (documented on the title) on the stock Inline 6 cylinder, 4.2L, 2F engine and factory 4 speed full synchromesh transmission. Meticulously maintained. Recent full tune up included oil/filter, antifreeze, spark plugs and wires, and Heavy Duty Battery. Only E0 (Ethanol-Free) fuel has been used in this vehicle, andit purrs. Stock exhaust system out the rear of vehicle with the original factory muffler. Power assisted Front disc, rear drum brakes work perfectly. (E-Brake, and light, too). Factory suspension, springs etc. No lift kit or alterations. 4 newer shocks and steering stabilizer. Warn locking hubs, four wheel drive, 2 speed transfer case (both High and Low) work perfectly. 5 Brand new BF Goodrich 31X10.5" (KM3's) Mud Terrain Radial Tires on all 5 original Toyota wheels and factory hubcaps (spare too) with less than 50 miles on them.
Body is uncut, unmolested and original. Still has it's original paint Toyota #031 White. There is zero rust, anywhere. Every factory spot weld is visible, and the entire vehicle has 4 fresh coats of wax on it. It has factory undercoating, which has preserved the underside of the entire vehicle. There is some patina on the hood, but I was advised that "They're only original once" and repainting it would devalue the vehicle considerably. I will leave that decision up to the new owner. Besides, I think it gives it that much more character. Every single piece of glass is original, and stamped with the "TEQ" Toyota emblem. The original antennae is installed under the arrow (just slides right off). Forgot to remove it for some of the pictures. Front HFS bumper holds the vintage Heavy Duty Warn 8274 8000 LB. winch (dated 01/06/1979) in excellent condition, (comes with remote) and vintage fog lights that work perfectly. (Comes with the factory front bumper as well, see picture). Stock rear bumperettes and 2" ball on the hitch for towing.
Interior is in excellent condition. Original seats (front and back) are in excellent condition. Front seats have the optional headrests, and rear seats have their original factory straps that hold them up when not in use. All 4 seats have their original working seat belts as well. The headliner and visors are excellent ( no rips or tears). Original factory Toyota front floor mat and rear floor mat are in excellent shape. All gauges, lights, high-beam indicator light, heater, fan, rear heater, defrost, wipers, windshield washer squirter, "beep-beep" horn, interior light, lighter, seat belts, windows, doors and locks work as they should. Even the "Fasten seat belts" light and buzzer work when you start it up. The dash has never been drilled or cut. Switch for the fog lights and off-road lights are nicely mounted in the factory hole in the dash. The factory emergency glove box light is in the glove box and has the original emergency light plug-in. All original factory seals for the top and windshield are in excellent shape. Door seals for all 4 doors are new. Factory roll-bar, with original pads. Comes with the original bottle jack under the driver's seat, and original jack handle bars behind the rear seat in their proper homes. (see pics.). Also comes with the TEQ Toyota Motor Co. factory tool kit bag under the front driver's seat which includes: Toyota Lug Wrench, Toyota "17" Pliers, Toyota Motor Co. 250mm Angle (Crescent) Wrench, 8/10, 10/12, and 14/17mm open-end Toyota wrenches, hubcap wrench, Toyota spark plug tool, Toyota Phillips/Flat-head Screwdriver, and factory jack handle/crank (see picture). Targa AM/FM Digital Stereo with Cassette player and clock, hooked up to the original speaker from the factory. There is a manual for it in the glove box. I also have the original Fujitsu ten AM radio which goes with the vehicle (see picture).
The Con-Ferr style roof/safari rack holds 4 off-road halogen navigator lights, (hard covers included), axe, shovel and 48" Hi-Lift Farm-jack. It is easily removed with 6 nuts and by unplugging the lights. The top comes off with 22 bolts (see pictures). Side and rear ambulance doors are removable as well. Windshield folds down and hooks to the hood (see picture). Tailgate installs easily to the ambulance door bolt holes and holds the factory rear license plate holder and Euro/Jerry Can. Comes with the locking gas can holder, lock and key.
Current "Oregon Trail" plates will go with the vehicle to an Oregon buyer. Vehicle is currently licensed through March 31 of 2020. Comes with the original 1978 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser Owner's Manual in mint condition and in it's original plastic cover. Also comes with a full car cover with storage bag (see picture). Clear title ( in my name) in hand. If you are looking for a versatile utilitarian vehicle, this is it!! Top off in the Spring and Summer, Top on for Fall and Winter. Don't miss your opportunity to own this famous Iconic classic vehicle that will only gain value year after year! You will be hard pressed to find an FJ40 in this original condition and low miles for the money. The reserve is set relatively low for the value of this vehicle. We have it listed locally as well and reserve the right to end this auction early.
$1000 nonrefundable deposit via Paypal or cash is due within 24 hours of auction ending, by the winning bidder. Remaining balance will be due within 72 hours via wire transfer or cash. I will "overnight" mail the title to the new owner (if not local) when full funds have been received.
