Description of 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Classic 1966 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser being offered for sale with NO Reserve! With its "Desert Tan" paint and color combo, this Land Cruiser looks like its ready for a safari... I know, we're in Tucson, so maybe just a fun trip into the mountains. These trucks are legendary in off-roading groups for being reliable and extremely agile due to their short wheelbase. Given their track record in some pretty inhospitable places, its easy to see why these are growing tremendously in market value. However, all those wonderful features also make finding a nice one challenging, since so many of these trucks have been bashed, abused, and just plain used up in the years before they were on the collectors A-list. Fortunately, this one is extremely clean and solid, with a "safari-ready" tan paint job and new off-road tires/black wheels, it looks bound for the wilderness. The interior is far more civilized than you'd expect for a world traveler "utilitarian" vehicle like this, with comfortable/updated, reclining bucket seats and lap-belts, rubber-backed rugged carpet (easily removed if you prefer) with sound-deadening insulation, Sony AM/FM/CD, etc. Toyota's 3.8L, In-line 6 cylinder motor has powered Land Cruisers for decades and provides the torque necessary for off road excitement; its proven itself time and again when conditions were less than nice. Around town, its smooth and torquey and the gear ratios are exactly right to transition from asphalt to off-road terrain. The engine bay is very original, not beautiful, but nice to see the factory equipment is intact. Backed by a 3-speed manual transmission and sitting on (new in 2018) "Toyo" AT 31x10.50 R15 LT tires and custom black-out rims, this Land Cruiser is a definite head turner.
Previous owner did a lot of restoration and repair/updating over the last few years: New lights, markers, signals, brakes, "Warn" locking hubs, new water pump and valve cover gasket last month, etc. He also painted it himself (yeah, I know), the interior looks fantastic, and the exterior is decent- the top is actually what really needs a repaint, they're fiberglass and let's just say he probably had no clue how to prep it, there are a few small dents that you can see in the pictures, and he removed the "Jerry Cans" from the rear/sides so there are mounting holes there- I think it would look better with them, but you can pick up repros if that's the desired look. He wasn't looking to take it to shows or trailer it around, he wanted a nice, clean, SOLID, classic 4x4 to have fun with in the desert, and this is definitely it. It's a bit like driving a small tank, this thing is VERY well built. I only included a couple of pictures of the undercarriage- it's dirty, but solid. I can email you some additional photos, and also a few of it when he had it stripped, getting ready for paint back in 2017. I generally sell Airstreams, so I am by NO means an expert on these FJ's, but if you need certain pictures or numbers, just call me and I'll do my best to get what you need. This should go without saying on a 54 year old vehicle, but the actual miles are unknown, I don't know if it the odometer has gone around once or twice- I just want to be clear on that. Speedo is working currently, some gauges work, some don't. Again, this isn't a trailer queen, just a nice, solid, AZ FJ40 that needs a new home. Please call or text with questions and I'll do my best to answer. This FJ runs and drives great and can take you places that other vehicles simply can't, it also gets constant attention and thumbs-up just running around town. Weather you're looking for a great candidate to do a resto-mod or a solid, classic FJ40 that you can go out and have fun with, this might be the one for you.

I am a licensed/bonded AZ auto dealer... NOT by choice, but because here in the great state of AZ if you buy/sell more than 3 vehicles (of any kind) in any 12 month period, you have to get a license. I am in real estate, but also a classic car and Airstream nut, I also have a ranch, horses, trailers, etc... let's just say I bought and sold a few too many for the state's liking, and due to the fact that they need revenue desperately- they decided to fine me when I sold a few more that what I'm "allowed", long story short- I jumped through all of their hoops and got my license several years ago.

Full payment is due within 7 days of the auction's end, and thecoach must be picked up within 15 days of payment (unless other arrangements have been made). Certified funds, cash in person or bank wire-transfer only. Payments MUST clear before theRV leaves my sight. There are no "title fees" or "doc fees" like the typical dealers have because as far as I can tell, that's just a way to get an extra couple hundred dollars from someone, here in AZ it costs me $15.00 to get a temporary registration so that a buyer can drive home legally and $4.00 for a title, I think I can handle that. Please check my feedback, you'll see that I don't sell very many vehicles- but I do have 100% positive feedback on what I have sold over the years. I do NOT go to auctions and buy cars to sell, anything that I have sold or will sell either belonged to me or someone that I know or is a "consignment" type of sale. I have never liked most car dealers and am not all that thrilled to be "one of them".

***This is a 54 YEAR OLD VINTAGE Vehicle and is being sold as-is/where-is with no warranty expressed or implied.
