Description of 1976 Triumph TR-6 |
For Sale: 1976 TR6. Two owner. very nice southern car. just painted in original color. seats and dash just redone. runs and drives very good. The history: Original owner in Virginia 1976-1988 (0-71. 00) miles. Second owner in Tennessee 1988-2014 (71. 00-88. 00) miles. I purchased car in July 2014 from the second owner for the sole purpose to paint and fix a few things to this superb original car and then pass along. The car was just finished being put back together last week and is ready to go. This car is strong. It never spent a night outside under the second owner. Never wrecked. all original. matching. The car is registered to me with clear TN title. The restoration: We decided to do a strategic restoration leaving everything that was original that was good on the car and fixing. replacing what was not. Everything taken off the body and the car was prepared and painted in a professional body shop. Windshield. lights. luggage rack. bumpers. etc. all came off. The paint is the proper white and was sprayed to all the right edges in the truck and the engine. Inside the door openings were of course painted. So the engine compartment and the trunk are exactly as it came. A future project for you if desire. New decals on body and wheels. The dash pad had two cracks around the ashtray. I replaced it with a nice used one. The dash was taken out. repaired a couple small nicks. resealed and reinstalled. All the gauges were taken out. cleaned and are original. Yes the mileage is correct and continues to roll. The carpet is original in most spots. I did replace the floor areas with nicer pieces I had. The carpet is not glued in. The seats are a total rebuild with all new foam and support parts and a leather/vinyl covering. The leather is of course where you sit and on your back and head rest. The vinyl is the remainder. The car was put back together by a very good English car restoration shop. The proper things such as new gaskets. seals were replaced. The windshield was completely taken apart and new gasket and the body seal it sits on. It was also painted at the body shop to match the rear area mat black finish. The door seal and the side glass trimming pieces. etc were replaced. Numerous other small touch up. replacements were done – a bolt here. paint that. lens. bulb. etc. New snaps on body for all the tops and the bottom side chrome strips. Not restored: Many things were not touched and provide new owner a potential project if desired. although not needed. The engine compartment is totally original. I did notice the radiator neck where cap is tightened was broken. We pulled it out. sent to a radiator shop. had a different neck placed in and reinstalled. I intended for only the repair. but when I went to pick up they had also painted it. Thus the fresh black paint there. The bumpers are original but look good. The trunk area all original. The soft top frame is good and the soft top itself is as well. You will notice if you zoom in on each side at the exact same spot where the original owner had repairs made due to improper folding. They do not look bad at all and it works fine. Of note is the original soft top to this car when new comes with the car. Will be in a bag in trunk; nostalgia I guess. In trunk area is spare with all the tools. jack. etc. All the panels. boards and carpet are in place there. The piece that covers the soft top and snaps on the car wrapping around the seats is in good shape. Misc/special mention items: *The car comes with a nice black aftermarket hardtop (picture) with all attaching hardware. *The Michelin redlines look good and have much tread left; however. I will tell you what the second owner told me. that being these are the actual tires that were on the car when he bought the car in 1988. Point - you will want to change these for safety. Yes I have driven the car at 60 mph and you can too to test it. but they are 26 years old. *I took the lower black plastic spoiler off the car and am going to use it on a car I am building. The 5 mounting holes are there if you want to attach one. Part is $158 and makes this car look even better if you want one. You have to have something to do. If you have a question you can call at a reasonable time (eastern) 865-388-6952. If I don’t answer I will call back. So if you want a true solid ready TR6 with a beautiful classic look that you can jump in and roll then here you go. Happy Holidays and buy yourself a present. You deserve it. |
