Description of 1972 Triumph Mark 3 GT-6 GT

1972 Triumph GT-6 Mark 3 Project. Very Complete original unrestored vehicle needing a full restoration. 6 Cylinder (ODO shows 60. 75 believe to be original but do not have any documentation to prove it). 4 speed manual transmission with the RARE electric Overdrive option! All glass is in good shape but front windshield has a rock bullseye. Still has its factory Radio. jacking tool kit & spare tire. also has the original dash placard. stating: TRIUMPH GT-6. SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICA. NATIONAL ROAD RACING CHAMPION. E-PRODUCTION 1969 & 1970 . (WOW How cool is that!). Plus this car is a BEAUTIFUL factory color combination. Factory MAROON (ext. ) with SADDLE TAN (int. ). This would be STUNNING car when restored! The upper body is in very good shape with no major dents or previous repairs that I can see. Paint was very thin an weathered and previous owner did a very amateur attempt at sanding and primering to keep the car from surface rusting. The normal rust in the normal areas. the lower body is where most of the problems are. Severe corrosion took hold in the front L & R foot wells. inner rockers and some outer rocker panel area. rear lower valance panel. these areas are rusty and will need replacement patch panels. With that being said there is still a lot of solid floor panels left (please LOOK @ PICS. ). Frame & main body braces look very solid. This car is "mostly" complete but is missing a few small minor pieces. missing drivers side inner door panel. missing rear hatch striker plate. horn button. antenna. misc. emblems. most molding clips (moldings were set on the car for the pictures. and will be INSIDE the car for delivery) etc. etc. ??. The GT-6 was the big brother of the 4 cyl. Spitfire Convertible. GT-6 had a more "racing" performance type suspension than the Spitfire. A number of people have used these GT-6s as donor cars and put spitfire bodies on them to make a SPIT-6. the car that a lot of people wanted but Triumph NEVER made. Personally I would prefer this car was restored back to its old glory. I had one of these (a 1969 GT-6+) when I was 17 years old. It was a BLAST to drive and would beat 289 Mustangs all night long (stoplight to stoplight). This car had been sitting outside in a driveway (in the person I bought the car from) for years. The person I bought it from said he had it running about 2-3 years ago. The motor DOES turn over by hand but I did not try and start it. This is a neat little rare car that DESERVES to be restored! Rare Car. not a lot of these left. do not miss out! Now for all the legal boring stuff: Seller provides NO warranties. guarantees. expressed. written or implied.
