Description of 1966 Triumph Other 1966 Triumph TR4A with IRS -Factory Overdrive!

This 1966 TR4A with IRS with 26K ORIGINAL MILES and FACTORY OVERDRIVE is a very rare and amazing car. It was bought new in Texas by a Vietnam veteran when he got home from the war. He took it to California and drive it for a couple of years before having an accident which damaged the left front side. The car sat garaged in California for almost 40 years before being professionally repaired. I have spent the past few years refreshing many of the mechanical elements so that the car now runs and drives amazing; we drive it all the time up to Lake Tahoe, etc. (see photos).
Since she only has 26k ORIGINAL miles, I am amazed at how "tight" everything is (gearbox has no play, etc.). Electric overdrive works perfectly and allows her to cruise down the highway with ease and low engine RPMs.
Very little surface (and I mean surface) rust on the car (see photos); this has almost always been a California and Nevada car.
Overall the Interior is in amazing condition. The dash and door panels are original and are almost perfect. Even the center console arm rest (very rare) is perfect. Car does need new carpets and seats need to be rebuilt, or course at this age. Roof frame is perfect, but it needs new vinyl top.
The following elements have been done to the car (among other things): new suspension all around, new u-joints on drive shaft and rear axles, new brakes and tires, new generator, Pertronix ignition, new wires, points, plugs.
The following needs to be done to the car to make it a show winner: minor body work and paint, new vinyl top, new seat covers and foams, new carpets.
This is a very rare car in amazing original and condition with low, low original miles.
The winner of this auction will have a true classic in a form that is almost impossible to find.
Good luck bidding!
