Description of 1970 Triumph TR-6 black

A beautiful, rebuilt, restored early TR6.
Excellent chassis, perfect floors, no rust, no patching, no undercoating, went over the exterior with a kitchen magnet and found NO BONDO (incredible for a fifty year old sports car). Engine rebuilt 1,000 miles ago, runs 80-90 psi oil pressure when warm, zero smoke, quiet valves, fitted with a pair of new Weber carbs and tubular headers, excellent gearbox (quiet and with excellent synchromesh action), no clunks in the rear end.
Suspension rebuilt (and detailed, see photos), new shocks at all four corners, no play in the steering, new steering column coupling, spotless 'as for show' engine bay, new master cylinders and power brake servo, new clutch hydraulics, new fuel pump, all new Aeroquip braided steel fuel, coolant, and fuel lines, alloy rocker cover, in my mind, looks much better than brand new.
New convertible top, all new interior, perfect wood dashboard, new tonneau and boot cover, new Minilite style alloy wheels with new 205 radials, ANSA exhaust, modern stereo/CD, spotless carpeted trunk (and even the trunk light works), new disc brake calipers, excellent chrome, new windshield compression strip, hard to imagine a more thoroughly restored TR6.
Truth is, have seen TR6s for $25,000, $30,000 and more and can only wonder if those cars are better than this one. After all, as the photos show, rust free underneath, excellent throughout.....doesn't have a hardtop but why bother? And while overdrive sounds nice, on a 50 year old car, its just a matter of time until its pump or clutches go. And with the big 205 tires (which do NOT rub on the wheel wells), the overall gearing is such that the engine sounds relaxed at a steady 80-90 mph....and aren't speeds above those purely academic?
In all of the typical weak areas for a TR6....rust bubbling on the rear fender seams, clunks from the rear end when the clutch is released, poorly fitted panels and doors, bondo covering 40% of the exterior, crummy undercoating hiding floor rust, worn out this or that, poor wiring, on and on.........NOT this car. If you want a really superb TR6 for general 'round town enjoyment, country roads, even long distance driving, this car fits the bill. And easy to service, maintain, and repair.
For a cold weather environment, a powerful supplemental heater is cheap and readily available. And for a hot weather area, a/c is also available. But best of all, one gets to drive in a genuine classic with real 'period' style (and for MORE classic look, wire wheels are easily installed). All work we can have done to this car for a prospective owner.
