Description of 1984 Volkswagen Scirocco

For sale is our 1984 Scirocco. I purchased the car two years ago as a father/daughter project that we have no need for any longer. I purchased the car with a New Jersey Rebuilt/Salvage title and the car had been New Jersey inspected and licensed, owever Pennsylvania no longer accepts that and requires an "enhanced inspection" to title a car that has been rebuilt even if titled previously out of state.

That being said we decided to go over every inch of the car to the best of our ability and make it as nice as we could to submit it for inspection. We replaced a dentedleft front fender, he windshield, ut out and welded in new metal anywhere I found rust,(small areas at the rear quarters, he front of the right rocker, nd a small holein the floor pan under the driver seat). We replaced the ball joints, ie rod ends, teering rack boots, upper strut bushings, ear shock bushings, xhaust system from the cat back, oth front springs and struts, hifter linkage, the brakes, nd tires were new when I bought the car and it hasn't been on the road since. The car has also had a tune up before I got it. the previous owner replaced the timing belt, lugs, ap, otor coil, ater pump, hermostat, ndoil pressure switch.

The car is pretty straight, owever we only did a Rustoleum paint job, ince we werenot intending to do a restoration but build her a respectable driver. The paint looks decentand shines fairly well but its not show quality so don't expect it to be. At least it presents well. The interior is decent also. the headliner is in great shape, o holes, ears or stains, he carpet shows some wear, ut presents well will floormats installed. The dash was cracked and we repaired it hoping to source a better one someday. The original seat covers are shot...I put black seat covers over the originals just because. I figure if I replaced them I'd put white in, owever, he next owner might not want that so I'd let that choice up to them.

The car came equipped from the factory with the MFA trip computer that I cannot verify if it works. The digital display in the dash has turned black like most old LCD displays are know to do. If you change setting on the MFA controls you can see activity on the display, ut you can't read anything. The car also came with cruise control that was removed and in a box in the trunk. I did not reinstall it so I can't guarantee its complete. All of the body moldings are there except for the left front fender moulding. In the pictures you will see that both front fenders are missing the trim that goes from the wheel to the headlights. I do have the right side piece but have not been able to locate a left side piece so rather that install one side and leave the car looking like something is missing I just didn't put it on. Also missing isare the outer window scarper for both doors. I just did not order new ones as of yet. They are $100 for the pair from vintage rubber, o at least they are available.Lastly the car had factory a/c but the condenser was removed. All other components are there but I cannotguarantee their condition.

Understand this, he car only has a PA salvage certificate right now. It is not street legal. It CANNOT be driven without being inspected. I am sure that it will pass we have just lost interest in completing this project. As for why the car was titled in NJ as rebuilt/salvage I'm not entirely sure. I know the car was in an accident at one time because I found some previous repair work done to the rear of the car and I know that the rear hatch was replaced long before I bought the car. I could not find any signs of frame or structural damage, o right now I really think the car was junked at some time just because it needed a lot of TLC.

Let my hard work be your reward. I do have a reserve set, think it's reasonable, o please don't ask me what it is. The car is also for sale locally so the auction may end at any time. However I encourage you to ask questions. I will try to answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Winning bidders should contact me within 24 hours of auction end.
