Description of 1987 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

80% restoration VW Vanagon Weekender Westfalia up for sale. Built this few years back for my family and our shop. I am a 20 + year veteran with volkswagen and had built this as a template for all other westfalia restorations. We have built three exactly the same as this one and this one is our personal family traveler. So, ur lose is yours to enjoy for life. Just completed a country trip from Durham NC through the smokey mountains down to Austin TX and back without any issue. the only problem that occurred was the speedo cable broke. Subsequently fixed.
Just completed another 3k trip to northern Maine without issue.
It truly is ready for the road.
179k on body and less than 5k on engine, rans, xhaust, rakes and tires. Less than 15K on all suspension components, ooling system components.
It does have some tings and bruises about it as my family has really used it a lot over the last few years. However, t is in really good shape. Have many expenses coming up with our shop and have to build equity. There is one more of these going to be hitting the market come mid summer. (approx $39k with 48/48000 warranty)
I have built a few of these as I mentioned but this one means the most. Was built with my very young son, ho, was planning on giving it too when he turned 16. You never know anymore. I have several 1989 "bluestar" vans and retro-fit the interior into westy weekenders. Then, enew the entire van.
Paint was done approx 3 years ago. Still looks good but has a couple of spots on two seams that can use a refresh.
The drivers side lower seam was removed and the subfloor was removed and replaced. This is the classic spot where all vanagons rust to extreme levels. On all my vanagons this seam is removed and a new section of metal is installed. Moreover, he extended floor section that connects to the inside of the exterior panel on the drives side is removed and replaced. Making a stronger weld and stronger panel. Lastly, ll seams and panels are POR-15'd before any paint is done. (done three years ago)

The vanagon needs to be seen and driven. It is currently being used so mileage will continue to increase. Not much however.
