Description of 1968 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
This car is in excellent condition inside and out. It rides very smooth and runs extremely good. The engine is in fantastic condition along with a very solid transmission. You really have to see and drive this car to truly appreciate its power and the deep sound of the engine. Below is link to many organized pictures and a video. The video will give you an idea of how the car runs and sounds but as I said you really need to see it in person to fully appreciate it. I rescued this Bug 4 years ago (2010) the engine and Body and Paint needed a bit of work. The car had been involved in a very minor front-end fender bender with slight damage to the passenger side fender. bumper and hood. The frame was and is straight and the body has very minor surface level rust which can be seen in the Body Shop pictures. Other than that the car was fully operational and in good shape. I've invested well over $10. 00 including the original price of the car in 2010. I've done most of the labor myself. Yes. its crazy expensive to restore a car. The many bits and pieces add up quickly. I'm not going to list everything. but if you have any questions. just ask. I believe my reserve price is very reasonable. I know I'm not going to get anything close to what I've spent. My loss is your gain. I replaced both front fenders and center apron with new components. I found a hood in good condition at a Swap Meet and had my body shop smooth out all imperfections. The body shop informed me that the rear apron was slightly bent so I decided to replace it with a new one. The body was then completely smoothed out and the doors lines aligned to match the body as the car was prepped for its new Jet Black with Clear Lacquer coat Paint Job. It’s been kept in a garage ever since I had the body work and paint job. Below is a complete list of restoration items that I used to bring it to its current condition. Newly built 1914 cc powerhouse (Approx. 5. 00 miles). It has a new set of authentic 40 mm Weber IDF carburetors. The MSD Blaster 2 Ignition Coil doubles the ignition voltage (35. 00 Volts) over stock and improves engine combustion. In addition. it has Compu-Fire Electronic (Pointless) Ignition. I just had the car completely checked out and performance tuned by Lloyd Mosher (Little Giant Killer) in 1989 he set the “Hot VW” Dragster record for Fastest Stock Block Air-Cooled 2387 cc Turbo at 8. 51 seconds 154 Mph. I can provide you with his contact information if you want to ask him about the condition of my car. This car has never been raced not even on the street. I built this as a “Poor Man’s Porsche Weekend Ride”. Unfortunately. I have to sell it now that I’ve completed restoring it without being able to enjoy it fully. It is in excellent condition. words cannot fully explain how much fun this car is to drive. It cruises at freeway speeds with ease. Street driving is the most fun of all for me as heads turn where ever it goes. The original Speedometer with built-in Gas Gauge. interior Dome light. Windshield Wipers. Turn Signals are all in excellent working condition. I want the new owner to be completely satisfied with the purchase. This is not a perfect car. nor was it professionally restored. but I take a lot of pride in everything I do. and I believe that I've done a hell of a good job. I encourage you to see the car in person. or have someone inspect it for you. This is the last year that Volkswagen used the Swing Axle and in just 3 years this car will become a very valuable “Antique Collectable” (50 Years Old). I hate sell it but it’s time for me to let it go to the right buyer who will appreciate all the love and work that my son and I put in to restoring it. The title is clear and I have the Pink Slip in hand.
