Hey this a fun, solid VW convertible here. It's a 1971 Super beetle convertible in Illinois but originally from California, so NO RUST!!! This car was purchased as a fun car in Cali, then the owners I got it from moved out to northern Illinois. They didn't use it much and it developed some oil leaks so I bought it. At first glance I knew this car was well taken car of. The floors, heater channels, vert supports, all the metal is solid and rust free. Over the years its had the interior and top redone and still shows well as a nice driver. The original color was tan, but its had a respray pearl white...its starting to show its age with some chips, scratches and blisters in the paint but still cruise night worthy and a solid 10 foot car. It has newer wheels and excellent tires. Brakes work correctly. The engine needed work when I got it. I installed 2 piece pushrod tubes and seals, oil cooler seals, adjusted valves and installed new gaskets, new intake boots and gaskets. The engine also got a full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, and condenser. The carburetor and fuel pump are also new. The car runs out cherry now..its not totally leak free, but its as good as any Volkswagen I've ever seen. Overall this is a well maintained car, not a restored car by any means, it still may need work from time to time. Volkswagen's in general require more maintenance then other cars of the same vintage, so bear that in mind. I've refused to sell yuppies other Vw's for their teenage daughters because they just don't understand the aircooled VW lifestyle. Is this the car for you? Maybe. Sold as is with no warranty.
