Description of 1969 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

This is a beautifully restored 1969 beetle convertible restoredin 2004by Earl Mann Bug Shop in Ardmore, Ok. Anyone that has seen an Earl Mann car, knows the quality of their work and care that they put into their restorations.

Completely torndown, cleaned and sandblasted, followed by POR-15 treatment to the chassis and body. Prior to painting, the body was treated with Z-chrome and urethane primer. Spray painted DuPont Chroma Premier two-stage, GS 424 Spectra.

The floorpan, suspension and engine were redone and the pan halves and heater channels were replaced. Rebuilt front and rear suspension; Empi disc brakes on all four tires.

New beam, ball-joints, tie rods and ends, steering damper, master cylinder, brake lines/hoses and KYB gas shocks. Rear has new bushings, grommets, shocks, CV-joints and mounts for a rebuilt stock IRS transaxle.

1600cc dual-port enginewith hydraulic lifters (Mexican Beetle without fuel injection), hi-volume oil pump with filter, 3 1/2 qt deep sump, Pertronix Flame Thrower electronic ignition, single Solex 34 PICT-3 carburetor, stock 'pea shooter' muffler and Sachs clutch.

The engine is outfitted with a Sanden SD-505 compressor to compliment the new 134A dual condenser air conditioning system.

The interior has a TMI Premium Stayfast black top (over restored frame with new wood) and matching black boot. The front seats were restructured to look like lowback 67 models and once padded, they were covered with an off white leatherette (#15 from TMI Interior Products). Door panels have the same leatherette as well as therear seat.

German square weave carpeting from TMI #907. Headliner in TMI #48 White Crush heavyweight. A stock black steering wheel from Ventura Warehouse. The dechromed dash has a Blaupunkt CD player (along with four Pioneer speakers) anda newspeedometer assembly

Many Best of Show awards, as well as a Class Award at the VW Classic in CA. Always trailered to shows and kept in the garage. Article in Hot VWs in October 2004. Alarm system. Still has the 'new car smell' after all these years.

To the best of my knowledge, the only things that are wrong with this vehicleare one tiny rock ding (picture #13) and the passenger door handle is not functioning. It is probably a simple fix and can give a credit for the repair. The interior, headliner, and undercarriage are all in excellent condition. I will post more pictures tomorrow.
