Description of 1959 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Kombi |
Here I have a beautifully refurbished December of 1958 VW Kombi (1959 Model) with a long list of upgrades and a few custom touches. Original color for this bus is Sealing Wax Red, color was changed to an original VW color of Dove Blue. The cargo area was done in grey like original. Front seat was recently reupholstered in black along with new padding and detailed seat frame. Cargo area has a OTW (other than westy) camping interior, more of a day camper. I have a table not installed that will be included with the sale of my bus. The fabric used for rear seats is new period styled print that fits the style of the bus. Other interior features are the original refurbished and working ambulance fans. Also added are safari windows. Cup holders where added to passenger and driver side door along with new interior grey panels. Rear panels are varnished Baltic birch that add to the nostalgic camping feeling you get when riding in the back. From the rear interior dome light down to the added fuel gauge light all electrical work as it should, I replaced the wiring harness with a new one from Wiring Work. To keep engine noise down a bit in the drivers area, an original to the bus Ambulance divider was added at the VW factory which makes this a not too common feature in the VW bus world. Moving on to the drive-train, the engine is a 2028cc dual 40mm carbed built by Audi works in Vista. The trans-axle was built by Rancho with a 3.44 R/P. This bus can keep up with our modern traffic no problem. Bringing all this to a stop comes in form of front disc brakes from SACO and a dual circuit brake master cylinder. Handling is stiffened up with the added front beam sway bar. A larger capacity fuel tank has been added from a newer Bay bus, I believe it to be approx. 14-15g fuel tank. A total of 5 wheels which are powder coated 15"crows feet 4 of which are topped off with Dove grey VW hubcaps. Almost new radial tires with the spare being new. Here is a list of things this bus has: *Factory Ambulance glass divider, original-to-the-Bus*Factory High Taillight early 1959 model*Pressed Bumpers were added*Safari Windows*California Yellow Year Of Manufacture License Plates.*2028cc Engine with Dual 40mm Kadron Carburetors*A1 Exhaust System*Larger Capacity Fuel Tank from a Bay Window Bus*Gas Gauge added for convenience*Freeway Flyer Transaxle from Rancho Transaxles*Front Disc Brakes from SACO with Dual Circuit Master Cylinder*Front Sway Bar *12 Volt Electrical System*New Wiring Harness*Retro Sound Radio with USB Plug*5 Powder Coated 15 Inch Bus Wheels with good Radial Tires*Accessory Commercial Bus Mirrors and Mirror Arms*Accessory Emergency/Commercial Bus Cargo Door Stays*Ambulance Fan, refurbished.
