Description of 1974 Volkswagen Thing

Very well kept and is very solid. This car has been completely gone through (everything we have tried works) and is a car you can get in and begin enjoying immediately. The Thing market is on the upswing and this is a fine example. The car runs and drives great. This is truly an opportunity to INVEST in something you have always wanted.

Interior Highlights

The interior of this vehicle is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. The interior features very sharp black vinyl high back beetle seats, they are in excellent shape and are very comfortable. The Thing has a very nice top that is in great condition with crystal clear like new side plastic removable windows. The entire interior is in great shape including the instrument panel, dash, and all interior hardware. The dash includes the following gauges, speedometer, gas gauge, tach, and clock, all of which work. The vehicle also has a new AM/FM Radio w/ satellite and Bluetooth, Aux and remote.The vehicle has a functioning emergency brake. The lights, horn, wipers, and heater are all in working order. The interior floor has been sanded, treated with POR 15, and painted with new carpet installed.

Exterior Highlights

The exterior of the car is stunning with the top on or off. The Thing is finished in Cocoon green pearl paint that is really sharp,the paint hasexcellent shine with some minor touch up's. The removable black top really sets the vehicle off or take it off for a different look and feel completely. The body on this vehicle is excellent, the body fit is about as good as it gets. The doors on the Thing open and close with ease. The vehicle has new tires mounted on the very popular 15" four lug BRM wheels (originals not reproduction). The car is fitted with very sharp fog lights. The rear tail lights and front fog lights are new. This Thing has awesome curb appeal and gets attention everywhere it goes.

Mechanical Highlights

Mechanically this is a turn-key purchase. The vehicle is equipped with a 1903 CC air cooled 4 Cylinder engine. The engine is fitted with dual baby weber carbs, new 12 volt alternator, electronic distributor, new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, New Optima Red Top Battery,

This Thing has had several oil changes always with ZDDP and valve adjustment. The vehicle has a remote oil cooler with an electric cooling fan. The transmission and clutch work fine. The transmission had a recent fluid change and shifts great with no slipping out of gear and has a new Scat T handle floor shifter. The front end has an adjustable beam with air shocks, and the rear has new standard shocks. The vehicle has 4-wheel disc brakes. 4 speed transmission that runs and shifts smoothly. The engine compartment, as the pictures show, is in show condition. This car starts, runs, drives, and stops as it is supposed to. The undercarriage on the vehicle is very solid and has 100% been treated with POR 15. The floor pan under the battery was replaced and looks great. This car has been professional maintained a shop Foreign Car Specialists, who owner has owned several VW’s.
