Here we have a daily driver in remarkably original condition. This truck has been the delivery and pick up vehicle for a local hardware store in Southern California for the last 8-1/2 years. Having to rely on it day-to-day, we have maintained it in tip-top mechanical condition. Prior to that, it was owned by a private party in Portland, Oregon as his fun weekend vehicle. He told me that the truck had always been in Oregon.
The truck starts right up every time and mechanically runs fine. All electrical works except for the gas gauge. It works, but needs a resistor to read the gas level properly - common VW conversion from 6volt to 12volt problem. Minor, minor oil drip - maybe 5 drips a week. If you know VWs, you know how prone they are to dripping oil.
The VIN inside the cab and the engine compartment match.
Front metal emblem will not go with the truck. It will be removed prior to sale.
I have YouTube videos available, but EBay rejects the links as being invalid. If anyone can tell me how to fix them, let me know.
As can be seen in the pictures, the body is in good condition. There is evidence of some minor repair under the drivers feet area. This was common with the OEM rubber mats trapping water. The treasure chest itself is solid. The treasure chestdoor has developed a number of paint bubbles. Turns out that a prior owner had installed the treasure chest door gasket only on the bottom. If you only install one gasket, this was the worst place to install it. It trapped water and caused the paint bubbles - not rust through, just bubbles. I put the gasket on top. It could use the other 3 gaskets. Ihave sold several vehicles on EBay and believe on disclosing the worst case. Keep in mind that this is a 58 year old vehicle so don't expect perfection. That said, you will get constant remarks from other drivers. This is a really cool and unusual daily driver.
Type II Single cabs are rare. They are rarer still in this condition. They are extremely rare with the Safari windows that look and work great - but are not original to the vehicle.
Inspections welcome and preferred. Additional pictures available. Questions welcome. Just message through EBay.
