1965 Volkswagen Beetle - California car 1965 Volkswagen Beetle - California car Click images to enlarge Description Hi - You are bidding on a 1965/ 1970 Bug. OK, so the body is a 1965 and the chassis is the 1970. It is registered as a 1970 on title. This is how I purchased the vehicle two years ago.Did not get much use out of it. It has just been sitting collecting dust so we have decided to sell it.Ok so the person I bought the vehicle from transplanted the 65 body on the 70 chassis and incorporated front and rear brake rotors and calipers - braking is awesome. As you can see the dash has been modified to house different gauges - oil, oil temperatur, gas, amps and time clock plus speedometer. The speedometer does not register - there is a unit in the front trunk that needs to be attached to the wheel to get it operate I think. The interior has been done - front and rear seats plus the door panels. There is an armrest off the passenger side panel which I will supply. Its lying on the floor and there is new carpeting. This was all done by the previous owner. The motor is - I think a stock 1600 cc with duel empie carburettors which I installed - the car came with two duel choke webers but was over carburetted and would not perform.I will supply the webers for free. Runs fine with no oil leaks and does not smoke - also has a new muffler which is a little low so sometimes scrapes. Car comes with those after market wheels and new tires plus the spare in the trunk which is the same. The bad or not so good - The sunroof opens but the right side slide is broken so I leave it closed. The gear shift is sloppy - I think there is a spring that has collapsed or is missing ? There is some surface rust forming on the headlight rim and some of the chrome in the engine compartment. The paint job is an older paint job and there is some bubbling coming up plus a few imperfections. Nothing serious. Floors are pretty solid. Passenger window is jammed. And lastly - the sound system = about $2000 worth - it has two amps four speakers plus sirius radio. Something happened - not sure - it turns on but no sound. If you intend to purchase the vehicle and you reside in California please budget for the tax and license and registration which will be added to the purchase price of the car. The car is also for sale AS IS with no warranties whatsoever, and I have the described the Beetle to the best of my ability. Please understand that this is a 50 year old vehicle which might have some inherent defects that I am not aware of. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
