This is an AWSOME example of a solid, excellent driving 1970 Karman Ghia. It was built as a show car in the early 1990s with no expense spared and has only 72,250 original miles. It is tastefully modified with many period correct high quality "hot rod" VW parts and the sum total is far better than the parts themselves. The body shell on this car is in very good shape with virtually all rust repaired and repainted professionally. All paint is very smooth without sanding marks or any orange peel and looks great up close. The floor pan is as near perfect as I have ever seen and the only repair ever done on it is a new left rear floor that was welded in place. it is not a hidden or a perfect repair but it is a clean solid install that was seam sealed and very tidy with a stamped repair panel that matches the original. Other than that the floor is pristine down to the pinch welds. In preparation for sale the entire inside and outside of the floor was washed, prepped and painted black with any surface rust wire wheeled and chemically treated before paint. we also stripped out the front truck and repainted that entire area before reassembling the carpeting. The exterior body was in very good shape when we acquired the car but we stripped the rocker panels did some minor metal repair to the lower rear quarters, rockers, front lower valance and engine cover and resprayed after repair. when originally repainted in the 90s early '70s Porsche headlights were fitted and we replaced them with brand new reproduction units that look and fit as the originals did and really make the car look special. body color mirrors were fitted with built in turn signals (these are not wired). The most notable defects in the fit and finish are at the left rear engine cover where there was some body work done and the lid seam is not perfect to the body towards the body. it is not noticeable because it is low and masked by the bumper . There is one tiny rust bubble and a small paint run at one of the headlights which is pictured but not very noticeable if not pointed out. overall the body is very nice and fenders, roof-line and curves are very straight and solid. aftermarket bumpers are fitted but the car will accept originals with no modification. The interior is simple but really nice with the addition of leather rally seats (current replacement value $1800) that both look and feel great with no rips, or wear. the back seat is perfect as well. There is a T handle shifter with a button lock-out for reverse, and a precise short shift kit. the steering wheel is a nice MOMO leather wrapped with a functioning horn button. all the instruments work except for the clock and there is a CD stereo hidden in the glove box. there are custom pedals that feel and work nicely, and the carpeting is in great shape. the headliner has no rips or tears and the dash pad was replaced with a perfect fitting one. Both door cards are new and when replaced we lubricated all the door mechanisms. All the glass is intact without cracks but the driver's window has a pair of vertical scratches from the window regulator and the windscreen has a single fine wiper scratch but is otherwise free of defect, chips or pitting. Gasketing and seals are not perfect but perfectly serviceable and the doors and deck-lids open and close smoothly and with proper effort. The Motor is the diamond on the tiara. it was fitted at approximately 35,000 miles and has about the same mileage since install. It is a 2007 CC big bore with twin Weber Carbs and all the right stuff. it also has lots of nice dress-up aluminum and chrome It has an extended sump for extra cooling and oil capacity. it has an Petronics Electronic ignition as well as 8MM plug wires.Preparing it for sale we changed the harmonic balancer and checked all systems for adjustment and leakage with no issues found. it pulls incredibly smoothly and strong and must be driven to be believed. it starts easily, idles smoothly and happily runs at highways speeds with plenty to spare. We ran it up to an indicated 90+ MPH and it had no vibrations noises or issues with more to go. It has a glass-pack exhaust which retains the heater boxes. It is a little loud for my taste but could be easily muffled. it also comes with a straight megaphone if you really want to piss off the neighbors. Oil was changed in the past 300 miles using Amsoil full synthetic oil. The Transmission is believed to have been replaced at the same time as the motor and is smooth and precise with good clutch engagement. Trans Oil is within the past 300 miles and is Amsoil full synthetic 75-90 Severe Gear formula Brakes have new rear slave cylinders, new master cylinder, and all hardware is new or low mileage including the calipers. Fluid was flushed and changed within the past 300 miles. it has front disc brakes and the bolts were replaced with fresh studs and new lug nuts. all bearings were serviced and replaced and re-packed as needed Wheels and tires are new within the past 2000 miles and are in perfect condition If it needed it we did it. We are proud of the cars we build and sell and this is one of the nicest ones we have offered While this car is not a concourse car it is certainly is one of the best drivers out there on the road today.
