Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1970

1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic . First, let me say I never thought I would be listing my dear bug. We truly have been through so much together in our 33 years. (She is my second car and have always had another one to drive). Back in 1987 I was going with a paint and body guy and he redid the (then green) bug for me. He took off blinkers and wind wings and changed bumper. I believe it is called CA style but it is not lowered. I was so proud of it and if I had a dollar for every time some one has said "Oh, I love your bug!" I would be a very rich woman! Comments come from men, women and children alike! Everyone in town knows me and I can't get away with anything. Whenever I run into someone I haven't seen in awhile the first question out of their mouth is "Do you still have your bug?" I used to say "I will be buried in it", but now that I am 67, the time has come to part with it. I live in the San Joaquin Valley and today the temp is a cool 100, but usually hotter. It is just too hot and I have purchased a little Honda Civic and it is so fun to glide around town with the air conditioning blowing on me. When I was in my 30's it didn't really bother me. Sooo, here we go with the cosmetic issues: I had the bug repainted in 2005 so 15 years later there are numerous chips that I have touched up. Also the right rear fender has a couple cuts out of it, which need welding and repainted. (Pic #3). I had headliner replaced in 2011 and a mouse got in and ate a 2 x 2" hole which I have just pinned in a little "cover" matching the headliner (pic 9). This is by the strap that the passenger can hang onto by the upper door molding. The window tinting has some scratches. There is a dent by the exhaust pipe but is in an inconspicuous place. The after-market "turbo type" mirrors do not stay in place as the wind hits them and you have to adjust them as you drive manually. The original horn in steering wheel was honking continuously and my mechanic put in a new horn which is by the CD (See pic 12 - it is the silver button next to ash tray.) This is hard to locate in a panic and horn is pretty much useless. The Rocket mags were put on in 1998. The 1600 engine was put in in 2007 and last Jan and Feb. I spent $1,464. for a new clutch and some other work. I have a 2" thick file of every receipt I have had on this car. I think it still needs carburetor work because when taking off, it kind of bucks if you don't do it just right. Then it smooths out in 3rd gear. I would not suggest this car for a young girl, it needs a "seasoned driver". Bug was hit on the passenger door by my neighbor backing out when I lived at a condo and passenger door will swing open if not locked. I have had it adjusted but didn't really help. A new Pioneer cd/stereo was installed last Dec. It seems like sometimes it is hard to shift even though I had work done on it. The passenger window won't roll up completely and needs a new handle. I want to keep my pretty pink license plates. The inside of the bug needs a little work. There are no original seat covers, the owner before me put on some new ones and they are still there with washable seat covers covering those. Anyway it could be fixed up if someone is handy and knows how to work on VW's. It is being sold as is. I believe I'm the second owner. Thanks for looking.
