Description of 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider

Up for bid is my exceptional 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio. I bought her recently, nd the only reason I am selling her is because I found a 1980 Morgan Plus 8 Turbo I had to have, nd I don't have room for both.

I would not hesitate to drive this Alfa anywhere. She starts, uns, nd stops as she should. She never overheats. The oil and filter are brand new as are all five tires (Goodyear Assurance 195/60 R15). Her clutch and 5-speed manual gearbox work as they should. An "Owner's Manual" is included, ut there are no tools. I will give the winning bidder a hydraulic jack, socket to fit the lug nuts, nd a wrench). The car comes with a clear Georgia title.I gave her a thorough going over and put her on a lift and took a good underside look when I inspected her. I was so pleased by her condition that I bought her on the spot. Everything about her is in excellent, riginal, ondition. I changed the oil (which was clean and full) and filter and checked all the other fluids which were clean and fine. Unlike a lot of its British counterparts, ou won't find puddles of fluids under the car in the morning. I had owned a Fiat 2000 (similar Italian engine and feel) and loved it. The Alfa feels more luxurious and better built. Unlike the Fiat which had a fragile timing belt, he Alfa has a metal timing chain requiring little or no maintenance. I think the Alfa drives like a dream. It starts right up every time, ever misses a beat, nd has wonderful performance (and it's economical, oo).

I'v driven the car over 640 miles and it has never given me pause. I've been in bumper-to-bumper Atlanta traffic, nd she never hinted at overheating or showing any signs of distress. I've cruised for periods of time at 75, nd she tracks true and solid. The clutch, earbox, nd engine work exactly as they should. The a/c works and blows "cool." The power windows work great. The top is immaculate.

The car has only 28,904 miles which are documented by its CarFax and registration/title history. It has working power windows and factory air conditioning as well as a rare, mmaculate, nd expensive factory hardtop. It has a brand new top boot (cover for the convertible top when it's down), nd the actual high quality cloth convertible top looks unused. The plastic rear window is clear as glass. The interior with its grey seats and red carpeting, s original and excellent. All the gauges and accessories work including a Pioneer audio system including a super sounding CD player.

The car has been resprayed the original silver and presents well with two minor blemishes - a tiny ding on the side of the nose and a bump on the fender in front of the driver's door. (It has no characteristics of rust or a structural issue and looks, nstead, ike somebody dripped a bit of filler and forgot to sand it down before painting). Both are photographed in this listing. The bottom edges of small portions of the inner sills (where one might jack up the car) show superficial rust and the driver's side floor has a small hole in it visible only from the bottom (it looks like a rock might have pierced it.) These are photographed as well.

This car is being sold AS IS with no warranties of any kind. Inspections and questions are welcome. Thank you for your interest in my auction. As you know, he ONLY reason I'm selling this car is because I just took possession of a 1980 Morgan Plus 8, y dream car. Frankly, think I'm almost surely keeping the wrong car.

Remember, his is the hi-end Quadrifoglio. I think that with consistent routine maintenance, n Alfa is as reliable as anything out there, nd it's a lot more fun. It's also the best classic car bargain there is these days. Like I said, would not hesitate for one minute to jump in the car and drive it to my brother in California.
