Description of 1970 Alfa Romeo Other |
1970 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA SUPER 1.6 Biscione If you know your Giulias you know how rare a Biscione is. This Alfa has an original mileage, believed to be only 22K miles, and drives as young as it looks. We found this 1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1.6 Super Biscione in a very small town in northern Italy. This Biscone comes in a very cool and unique Bluette shade exterior with a rare blue fabric interior. The car has recently received a complete tune-up and detail and is ready for a new home. This 105.26 Super comes with it’s original 00526/A motor which is complete and runs perfectly. The Biscione ( “snake” in Italian - also known as the Vipera ('viper' or in Milanese as the Bissa), is a heraldic charge showing a blue serpent in the act of swallowing a human: usually a child and sometimes described as a Moor. It has been the emblem of the Italian Visconti family for around a thousand years.) was a special trim and tuning package offered in limited numbers. The classic Alfa DOHC engine is rated at a full 110 HP in the Biscione and provides very lively performance via dual Weber carbs. Runs sweet! Drives great. No rust, no issues, excellent overall condition, minor wear to driver’s seat fabric. The body is straight and rust free. The interior is comfortable and charming with attractive wood trim and clear, well detailed instrument panel. Very comfortable and supportive front buckets with a roomy back seat and practical trunk. Pre-headrests, the interior has outstanding sight lines and great visibility. This car is ready to enjoy as a daily driver or weekend joy ride. Very collectable and likely to appreciate in value if preserved. The car was inspected by our specialists in Italy and anything needed was taken care of. This particular car received a thorough detailing and a major tune up including new battery, all new fluids including radiator fluid, engine oil and filter. After delivery to the US, we again checked it over and all is in excellent working order. Runs strong, shifts clean and sharp, handles with ease, and just sounds like a classic Alfa should. The Giulia was produced from 1962 thru 1978, and pioneered the sport sedan concept. Much loved and popular for its enjoyable character and useful configuration the design continued to evolve over the long production run and the mid-70’s models are particularly desirable. Careful development of the aerodynamics utilizing wind-tunnels made for a very slick drag coefficient of only 0.34, remarkable for a sedan at the time … boosting top speed, MPG and providing a fairly quiet ride. With two Weber carburetors, this is one of the most powerful versions of the 1.6 litre Twin Cam. It produces 110 hp and robust torque, quite good for an Alfa. The european version Webers are generally felt to be relatively easy to tune and preferable to fuel injected versions. Gearbox is the slick shifting Alfa 5-speed manual. Brakes are 4-wheel discs with outstanding feel and stopping power. A very comfortable ride is mated to excellent handling. The Giulia Super Biscione 1.6 is a well developed, late in the model run, Italian sport sedan with a very nimble road feel and excellent handling. With a curb weight of approximately 2,200 lbs, performance is quite lively. This is a really exciting car to drive, very practical to own and the original Italian sport sedan. An excellent choice for retro style, driving fun and a sensible investment.
