Description of 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV GTV6 |
This is my 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6. It is a great car. but unfortunately I have not had anytime for it over the last year and a half. It started to have some problems and now here it sits. Unfortunately my truck broke down over the last winter and I had no choice but to drive the Alfa. witch of coarse did not help out the current situation of the car. From sitting outside the car has started to rust and the paint witch was already faded is fading even worse. I have had this car since July of 2011. The first three years with car were great. I maintained it and was pretty much able to keep up with it. The last winter was when I started having more problems than I could deal with. Unfortunately I just do not have the time or extra money to put into the car. I am sure it could be a great car again if some has the time and money to put into the car. Some of the good things about the car are for example that it has low miles 44. 97. I just put new Firestone tires on about 5. 00 miles ago. The upper and lower front ball joints and wheel bearings have been replaced. I installed a new Pioneer radio CD player and Polk speakers in the front. Kicker speakers in the rear. The vacuum hoses have all been replaced with a high quality silicone rubber hose. I repaired the exhaust leaks it had at the collectors on both sides with new gaskets. I installed a new battery. but unfortunately form sitting it is dead. I have done a lot of other small repairs and clean up. I do. even though it does not look like it now have a lot of time into the car. I also replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter. Now Unfortunately I now have to get to the bad parts. One of the big problems is that the flex joints on the drive shaft are going bad and all three will need to be replaced. I looked into new flex joints and they will cost about $400. The engine runs well. but it will need all new seals and a timing belt soon. It does from what I have been told smoke some when you accelerate. The charging system is no longer working. The tachometer just recently quit working. The car will need a new gas cap. One windshield wiper arm will need to be replaced. There is rust and rot in the front lower fender wells. I have removed the lower trim to show the rust holes by the lower front fenders. There is a spot on the passenger side door where a section of paint has come off and started to rust. The paint is the original paint. but it is in poor condition. The car will need to be repainted. The mirrors have rust bubbling through as well. The interior is the best part of the car. It has tan leather seats and almost everything is in great condition. The stitching on the driver seat started coming undone. This is not a rip it can be repaired. The dash is in very good condition. I have always had a visor in the windshield to protect the interior. which I will include with the car. The transmission is not bad. but second gear can be a little tricky. I have gotten use to the car and can shift it with out any problems. The clutch works fine . but the master cylinder will probably need to be rebuilt or replaced. The clutch will sometimes fade out and you have to pump it to get it back. So most likely air is getting into the system somewhere. The car does have Shankle cams. a full after market exhaust system. and Koni shocks. The exhaust is half Shankle and half ANSA. The car has a lot of potential. it just needs someone who can appreciate it and put the work into it that it needs. It is up to you as to how to pick up the car. I will not pay for shipping. that is up to the winning bidder. The state inspection ran out 6 of 2014 so the car can not legally be driven. The car will run and can be driven. but the battery is dead and the charging system is not working. If you are going to have the car shipped. I will help where I can. but any shipping fees will be up to the winning bidder to pay. The winning bidder can pay through Paypal. $500 must be payed within the first 24 hours after the end of the auction. I expect full payment within 7 days of the time of the auctions ending.
