Description of 1969 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior -- |
The Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior was the entry model to the Alfa Romeo coupe range and came out in 1965. Alfa's GT 1300 Junior was fitted with the 1290cc twin cam engine. The smaller engine was introduced in order to allow buyers to choose an Alfa Romeo coupe, while avoiding the higher taxes on the models with larger engine capacity, especially in the Italian market. From 1967 a servo was fitted as standard, together with higher rear wheel arches as adopted later on the 1750 GTV. In 1968 the GT 1300 Junior was revised with many of the new parts from the 1750 GTV. New, this included the dashboard, the suspension and the new wheel size of 5½ x 14J instead of 4½ x 15J. This revised GT 1300 Junior retained the early "step-front" body style, which interestingly makes it the most mechanically-refined production "step-front" model. With a curb weight of 1,874lbs, the car handles exceptionally well for its age! Originally supplied to Italy, this beautiful GT Junior was manufactured on 6th November 1969 and sold on 8th November 1969. This car was extensively restored in Italy prior to 2007 and presents in fantastic condition today. In fact, the restoration still looks fresh, having seen very little use since and from being carefully stored. This GT Junior comes with information provided by the Alfa Romeo Historic Archive in Milan, which shows new the car was finished in Dutch Blue with Grey cloth interior. And so this Junior retains its original color scheme, with the interior being in excellent condition. The previous owner in Italy claims he had the car from new and that the mileage of 88,655km (approx. 55,300 miles) was correct at the time. We cannot warrant either, however the car does have the original "Carta Di Circolazione Per Autovettura" which verifies the mileage up to December 1982. This car is believed to be a matching numbers example, however on the build sheets Alfa Romeo never logged the engine numbers for these models, so it's difficult to be certain. The car was exported from Italy to the UK in 2016, where it was Registered, MOT'd and serviced prior to finding its way to the USA, where it is now registered in Indiana. Also included are various original registration documents, Alfa Romeo GT Junior technical books, 2 keys and a fresh set of tires. This stunning example is ready to be enjoyed for the summer and is a great long-term investment. Upon receiving the vehicle, we inspected it and have driven the car for an estimated 30 miles. Car drives out exceptionally well with no issues. Transmission shifts are smooth and fluid. Vehicle has seen a proper detail and is ready for immediate delivery!
