Description of 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider |
This Spider was purchased new in August of 1973, by the same (First & Only) Owner. Any "Alfisti" or "Alfaholic" will tell you that the 1974 model Spider is very RARE to find, and is also the most "COVETED" year, after the (series 1) Duetto, because the subsequent models had "safety" bumpers and "smog" requirements. A RESTORED 1974 model Spider can sell for up to $25K! Here's a list of recent repairs and upgrades: * New Water Pump * Radiator Flushed & Painted * New Crankshaft Seal * New Brake Pads (Front) * New Battery (Battery Bracket was powder coated) * New Oil Filter & Oil Change * New Door Panels (Also, both Door mechanisms were Aligned, Adjusted & Lubricated) This Spider starts, runs and drives good. However, this is a PARTIAL "PROJECT" car for RESTORATION! This Spider is ALL ORIGINAL (Interior / Exterior) and needs some mechanical work, such as addressing a slight 2nd gear grind, which is fairly common with these cars. Also, there are "rust" issues - see photos. I have already sourced, and received price quotes, for the RUST REMOVAL (DUSTLESS BLASTING) and the UNDERCOATING (DIRECT to METAL, which is a 3 in 1 PRIMER & SEALER) that would only cost around $700, since it's such a small car. Keep in mind that this type of UNDERCOATING will PROTECT the under-carriage of the car for at least as long as you're able to drive it! Also included is the original Owner's Manual, which is how I learned that this Spider is a 1974 model, even though it was purchased in 1973. I have the (signed) DMV Registration, so the next Owner of this Spider will be the 2nd Registered Owner! |
