Description of 1994 Alfa Romeo 164 Quadrifoglio |
Up for sale is a rare 1994 Alfa Romeo 164 Quadrifogilio. 38 of these were imported that year, and many have gone to the scrap heap. This one is a survivor. Sadly, I am not able to finish the repairs on this beautiful, exceptional car. I am the third owner of this Alfa. I purchased it in Mystic, CT, in May 2014. The previous two owners and I have all taken great care of it, and it is well preserved. The body is solid and rust-free, as can be seen in the pictures. This vehicle has always been properly maintained, and I have service records going back to the original owner. Earlier this year, a major top-end engine rebuild was completed, totaling over $13,000. In addition to that, major brake work, suspension work, and other repairs were done. Mechanically, this car is close to being brand new. The receipts for parts and labor for this major service are included in the pictures. Just about everything was replaced in and around the engine, except for a few pulleys and hoses. Sadly, after all that that was put into this car, I spun a rod bearing in cylinder #5 (front middle). Aside from the connecting rod and bearing, the crankshaft also needs to be refinished or replaced, because it was also damaged from the rod bearing being spun. I cannot put anything more into this Alfa, so I am hoping to find someone who can save this rare, exotic sports car. Right now, the oil pan is removed, but the oil pan and right front axle will be reattached so that the car can be rolled on to a trailer or tow truck for whoever purchases this car. Included with this Alfa are many rare documents, books and correspondence from Alfa Romeo in 1994-1995. The original window sticker is included. This car is like a time capsule, and has been well cared for. This is NOT a project car by any means, because it does not need any other major work. All of the electronic adjustable shock absorbers are still good. The suspension is in great shape, and the car was recently given an alignment. The interior is in fantastic shape, other than some wear on the driver's seat and the headliner. This car does not need a repaint, just some reconditioning and touch ups. The dashboard is perfect. With this done and the lower end engine work, one could consider this almost like a brand new car, and worthy of being displayed at car shows. Amazingly, everything electric works, as far as I know. Everything is stock, except for a Squadra chip, a CSC center pipe and muffler, and stainless steel brake lines. Car comes with the original Alfa Romeo cassette player and 12-disc CD changer in trunk. Space saver tire and jack included. Custom fit floor mats and custom fit sun shade included. Also, some spare parts are included in this auction, including two interior door handles, some bushings, a hose, and some other parts. See picture. This car is very fast, especially after the rebuild. The 3.0-liter, 24-valve, quad-cam Busso V6 makes the best sound of any engine. I will never forget all of the "Italian tune-ups" I gave it on the highway. This car is so much fun on a clear, open road. The turn-in is sharp, and overall the car is very tight, enthusiastic, and assertive. I should also mention that I hit a deer in early November 2016, but the damage wasn't too bad. The hood and a front fender were replaced by a local body shop. I got lucky on that one. Title is clear. Please look at the pictures included in this auction. I have many more, and can take more, if needed. Here is the list of recent repairs. I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but here goes: Complete valve job, all intake and exhaust valves, and hydraulic lifters Harmonic balancer rebuilt Auxiliary belt adjustable pulley Auxiliary belt idler pulley Auxiliary belt vibration damper Auxiliary belt Crank angle sensor Knock sensors Thermostat Thermostat hoses Water pump Timing belt Timing belt idler and timing bearings Fuel hoses on firewall and fuel rail Intake boot All motor mounts and torque rod mount All gaskets, seals, etc. --- New tires in October 2016. 6,700 miles on them currently. Stainless steel brake lines Alignment Rear trailing arms Brake proportioning valve Lower control arms Right front ball joint Sway bar end links Large cooling hose on right side of engine The following was done by me in early/mid 2016: Spark plugs Air filter All intake runner gaskets Upgraded headlight wiring and connectors Flushed out oil vapor canister Work done in 2014/2015 includes suspension work, sport exhaust, brake master cylinder, and other services. I have full receipts going back to the original owner. Any questions, feel free to ask. Buyer is responsible for having this car shipped or towed. Car is used, and although I have given my best knowledge as to its condition, it is nonetheless being sold as-is, with no warranties, guarantees, exchanges or returns. Only cashier's checks or money orders are accepted for payment, aside from the initial PayPal deposit of $500. |
