Becoming a very rare collectible model with values on the rise. The Series 1 Spider's (Duetto's) have been a favorite for Italian car enthusiasts for many years. Noted for their simplicity in styling and ease of working on them. Considered by many to be one the best looking PininFarina designs. I received this email from Alfa Romeo Archives: Dear Sir, With reference to your request we are informing you as follows. Vin number: AR 1670105 Engine number: AR00530*37014 Engine: 1300cc Transmission: 5 Speed Mileage: 25,420 Kilometers (actual mileage unknown) Title: Clear "Michigan" Title ** I will be adding more pictures within the next few days.** The Alfa is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranties expressed or implied. *. * The Alfa Junior models have some interesting differences from a US version Roundtail Spider. The differences are subtle, and was a more basic version than the non Junior models. 1. Headlight fairings are slightly different with no headlight trim rings 2. Steering wheel is 2 spoke instead of 3 spoke 3. Front bumper lower blades are black 4. 1300 cc engine 5. Vent windows are fixed I purchased this Spider from an Alfa enthusiast that had quite a collection of vintage Alfa's from the South. He had purchased it from another Alfa enthusiast from Virginia who had used it for Alfa events and weekend driving. The previous owner planned to make it into a "Driver" and had started the project but never completed the project. He had a later Spider and intended to transfer everything to the Duetto. The Burman steering box was replaced with a ZF box and a later steering column. The front hubs were also swapped with later hubs using ATE calipers. He also planned to install a late model brake booster with hanging pedals....luckily the project stalled and he never followed through on that plan. The late transmission was installed using an early bell housing. Lastly, the 1300 was installed but not completely hooked up. It is fitted with a pair of Solex carbs. I do not have any information regarding the condition of the engine except that it does turn freely. The interior is in relatively good condition as shown in the pictures. The Alfa retains it's original 2 spoke steeering wheel. The dashboard is in good original condition and most importantly the radio opening was never carved out. The glove box is in good condition and retains the original key. The front floor mats are in good condition. The mat in the jump seat area is in poor condition and has cutouts showing that there was a roll bar installed at some point. There is no carpet for the shifter area. As previously noted, the gauges are "Euro" with the Speedometer being in Kilometers and the gauges are in Italian. The body is in solid condition and will require a straight forward restoration. The rocker panels will need to be replaced. The floors are solid and show evidence of previous repairs...some better than others. The jump seat area is solid as well. The nose panel show around the grill area will need work. There is evidence of previous damage. The nose panel still retains some of the "dimple" it is not very pronounced, but it is there. The front bumpers are in good condition. The left rear bumper needs some welding work and the over rider was glued on by the previous owner. It is missing the lollipop reflectors. The front edge of the hood shows evidence of repair. The trunk lid is actually in pretty good shape considering they barely survive rust and collision repair. The trunk lid opens and closes nicely and the hinges and springs work properly as they should. There is no evidence of rear end damage when looking on the inside of the trunk. The convertible top is present, but has one piece that has broken off and will need to be repaired. A picture of the top frame will be included. Also, the convertible top boot shown in the pictures are from my other Duetto and is not included with the auction. Missing parts: 1. Glass fuel bowl 2. Positive cable for battery 3. Shifter tunnel carpet 4. Lollipop reflectors 5. Radiator overflow Other information: 1. Rear calipers not installed. 2. Distributor not hooked up. 3. Nothing on the car has been tested or checked. 4. Some misc. electrical items needs to be addressed. 5. Hood release cable is broken and the hood latch has not been installed.
