Description of 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider |
This auction is for a 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider. I have owned this car for 21 years and has always been garaged. The car has been given an almost full restoration. The car has been slightly modified for better street performance. All mechanical's have been rebuilt though the years I have owned the car. The engine was rebuilt and includes 10:1 compression and European spec cams. The car still has the SPICA injection system and is incredibly reliable. The car starts almost immediately when you turn the key.The SPICA fuel pump was rebuilt by Wes Ingram. The transmission has been refreshed and the driveshaft rebuilt. The engine does have a few leaks but are very minor and consistent with any 2.0L Alfa of this era. All suspension components have been replaced and includes stiffer springs and Koni performance adjustable shocks. The entire under-body of the car has been re-undercoated with a very durable bed liner material to fight away sound, under body damage and rust. The entire car has been repainted including door jams and engine bay but has a few dents and scratches that need attention. The biggest is on the driver door below the center body line. When the car was repainted the interior of the car was painted with marine paint to be sure to fight any rust. The interior has been re-carpeted and aftermarket seats installed. My last project for this car was to install AC but did not finish. The car came with the original dealer AC system which was converted for use with a Sanden style compressor and 134a refrigerant. All AC components were replaced in the process except the evaporator unit which I did find to be faulty. This is the only component needed to enjoy this car on a summer day. I have a list of spare parts that come with the car and can send a list by request. This is a great car for anyone looking to get out with the top down for a weekend getaway. |
