I am so very excited to offer this Alfa Romeo GTV in a NO RESERVE auction. If you are looking for a great GTV. let THIS beautiful car end your search! And if you clicked on this auction. this car needs no introduction in how it came to be. but just to get us primed. let's take a walk down memory lane!The GTV was designed by the famed Giorgetto Giugiaro in the early 1960's to critical acclaim. Just how brilliant was Giorgetto??? Just a few of his designs were the BMW 3200CS. BMW M1. Lotus Esprit. Bugatti EB110. Maserati Bora. Maserati Ghibli. Maserati Merak. Maserati Quattroporte. DeLorean DMC-12. Volkswagen Golf. Volkswagen Scirocco. Ferrari 250 SWB GT and of course the GTV and huge amount of the Alfa line up! A BRILLIANT MAN! Just owning a piece of Giorgetto history is such a treat! Background: Let me begin with a little background of this car. In 1971 this beautiful GTV found a home with its first owner in the old storied parts of Los Angeles. Despite this owner moving then the Beverly Hills and obviously increasing his means. he held onto his little beauty keeping for a couple decades putting 80k of its 109k miles on it. The second owner only put a few thousand miles on it (another LA local). and it's last owner only another few thousand over another decade. The car never left a 15 mile radius of ownership here in Los Angeles and has near complete provenance of receipts and registration documents that come along with the car. With every car. especially an Alfa. it is all about the history! The maintenance history of the car is equally as wonderful! Only the best names in the Alfa world have worked on this car! Italmotors (Alfa/Fiat Specialist). Hector's Motorcar (Alfa Specialist) and Alfa's Only serviced the car throughout it's life. Santo's Italian Car (Alfa GURU) rebuilt the drivetrain and companies such as IAP. Centerline and Alfaholics provided the parts. This car was/is/will be LOVED!The Condition and Service:This car has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY. PROFESSIONALLY and ACTIVELY maintained and serviced and is a great standard for Alfa service!Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:This engine and transmission have VERY LOW MILES (approximately 15. 00). and only "09. 00" miles appear on the odometer (109. 00). The engine is the wonderful Alfa 1750cc 4 cylinder and was rebuilt by one of the best Alfa mechanics/restoration shops in the country. Santo's Italian Car Service. He is THE source for all things Alfa. Not only did he rebuild this engine. but he also rebuilt the transmission! How good of shape is the engine because of this? Take a look at the pics below. Compression is 190. 192. 198. 196! Not only is the engine stout. but the SPICA Fuel Injection was removed (but included with the sale of the car!). and replaced with the GTV Weber Carb setup. The Webers were also just rebuilt and tuned less than 100 miles ago by one of the leading carb mechanics in SoCal. Tony. owner of ACE Carburetor. The rebuild and tuning alone was $$$$. and makes this setup ready for loads of care free driving! The engine revs like a beast and sounds like no words can describe at wide open throttle! -LOWER ENGINENo knocks. no bangs. no issues! BRAND NEW oil change! Ready to go another 3. 00 miles! -UPPER ENGINENo ticks. no chatter. no leaking valve stem seals - solid upper end! -IGNITIONThis ignition system was given a thorough maintenance to assure years of carefree service! BRAND NEW wires and BRAND NEW Bosch spark plugs! Newer distributor cap and rotor! Newer coil! Car has a great strong spark! -FUEL SYSTEMThe pump delivers 3. 5psi to the carbs as it should and the Weber 40 Series carbs as mentioned freshly rebuilt! -TRANSMISSIONThe trans shifts great with no grinds and no popping out! Shifts are crisp and wonderful. -BATTERYThe car has a BRAND NEW battery. It cranks up right away and has loads of carefree service ahead of it. -ENGINE BAYEngine is free of excessive dirt or grease. It is a slightly darker blue than the car paint. but not very noticeable. Lets move to the suspension and brakes:-BRAKESBRAND NEW brake pads in the front and rear - loads of pad life! Brand new front brake caliper!-SPRINGS/SHOCKSThe IAP aftermarket coil springs feel great! The Koni Classic Shocks dampen nicely and control the springs nicely! -STEERINGThe steering is tight and has no excessive play. Let's continue to the exterior:-PAINTThe paint is nice! It is a 8 out of 10 in this writer's eyes! NO RUST SOUTHERN CA CAR! Solid rockers! Solid doors and frames! Solid floors! There are only minor signs of wear on the paint and they are hard to see in pics and in person. And some flaws such as some scratches in the hood. a couple pencil eraser sized paint touch ups. and some other minor flaws (small chips. very small dings etc). Any of the minor flaws take being nearly right on top of them to see them. Some are only visible in some angles. It is not a perfect job. but it shows very nice with high quality paint and primer when done! The epoxy and urethane primers were all Southern Polyurethane and the paint is Dupont. (paint code BS342)! The paint was recently compounded. polished and buffed! The blank number roundels on the doors are static cling. NOT painted on. They stick on fine at highway speeds. but could be removed by just peeling them off should the new owner choose not to want them. -BUMPERSNo dents issues on the bumpers. and though they have been removed they are included in the sale with all the end caps and rubber and turn signals!-TRIMThe door trim is in very nice shape. with the front and rear windshield surrounds having some scratches and flaws. A couple of the small windshield trim covers are missing (which cover the gaps between the pieces). but not super noticeable. The front grill is in nice shape as well as the headlight surrounds!-WHEELS/TIRESThe wheels are in nice shape with no major flaws or curbing. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza tires are in good shape with 80%+ tread. They are a few years old. but do not leak or have flat spots. -GLASSNot to let a pebble defeat this car. the windshield and glass are in great shape!-UNDERCARRIAGENice undercarriage! No RUST!!!!!! Southern California wonderful!!!! The spare tire well had a small repair done in the prior owner's time with the car. -LIGHTSThe headlights and tail lights are free of chips or breaks. though can be a little Alfa'y fincky at times. The inner yellow lights are vinyl coverings. so they can be peeled off if the next owner would prefer the white look. Onto the cabin:-SEATSReady for this one GTV fans? The stock seats have been replaced with BRAND NEW Corbeau Classic II seats and sliders!!! This is a $$$$ upgrade to the stock seats! Their stitching pattern is the same horizontal pattern as the stock seats (and matches the rears) and are in PERFECT shape. They are supportive. comfortable and look FANTASTIC!!!! A great upgrade! The original seats are included in the sale as well! (See "Spare Parts" section below for more info) The rear seats are in good shape with a couple very minor splits at the top of the seams. Not very noticeable. The cabin looks great with the new seats!!-DOOR PANELSBRAND NEW Centerline door panels!! They are clean. smooth and in beautiful shape. These are the 1972 style door panels with a slightly different stitch pattern. The original 1971 panels are included in the sale as well!!! (See "Spare Parts" section below for more info). The inner door handles and window cranks have a little pitting but are in overall nice shape. -CARPETThe carpet is very nice!! No tears. stains or issues!-DASHBRAND NEW Centerline dash cap! Looks fantastic! Speedo and tach work great! The fuel gauge can bounce around a little at times. The wood is in nice shape and the chrome surrounds are complete but do have a little pitting. -HEADLINER-The headliner is in very nice shape! No tears. sagging or discoloration!-WINDOWSWindows roll down. and rears fold out -STEERING WHEELThe wood is nice with only minor wear-REMOTE TRUNKRemote trunk works great!-RADIOIn one of the very few flaws the car has. the radio turns on. but has no sound. Antenna has been removed for a more streamlined appearance. PaperworkMake sure you are sitting down. this Alfa comes with paperwork since NEW!!! PILES of receipts dating from its first ownership to present - what a treat and a great way to continue to build this beauty's lineage!! Check out the pics below for a shot of the stack!Spare and Original PartsIn addition to the car. this car comes with a pile of spare parts should the new owner want them! -ORIGINAL PARTS FROM THE CAR:--Original Bumpers in nice. front and rear. with turn signals. end caps and rubber--Original front seats. in fair shape. could use a little R&R. but complete. just some minor tears. (Please note though. I will not ship these separately unless the buyer pays for shipping or they are picked up locally or with the car by your shipper. I would put them in the car. but there is no space. ) --Original SPICA fuel injection (pump. airbox. manifold. etc)--Original door panels (passenger side in good shape. drivers side in fair shape)-SPARE PARTS (all in fair to good used shape):--Oil pan guard--Valve cover--Pair of outer door handles--3 turn signal/headlight stalk assemblies--Distributor cap--Wheel center caps--Coil--Window cranks --Fuel gauge--Oil gauge--Fuel and oil gauge surrounds--Various relays--Various trim--Seat belt retractor--Various trim and Quadrofoglio badges--Fuel tank sending unit--Hood (this. like the seats would have to paid to ship separately or picked up locally or by your shipper)--Various other bits and bobsThe ExperienceDriving this GTV is amazing. You sit in the bolstered race seat. with fantastic wheel and pedal positioning as you listen to the dual Weber's growl in front of you! It is ADDICTIVE! The GTV pulls hard and handles like a sports car should! The engine is alive above 3k rpm and sounds like it could rev to the stratosphere! Pull the choke. turn the key and the car comes to life! It is not a loud car at idle and you could cruise around town without waking the local patrol. Get out on the open road and with the gas tipped in all the way and the Webers sucking in air at max. and you are back in the old country with an aural symphony in front! I hope you can tell by my long ad that this Alfa is a great and beautiful collector car and needs only minor attention to be a full 100%. It is low miles. rust free. has a stout rebuilt drivetrain and is in fantastic shape overall. There are other GTV out there. Don't spend big money on a car from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the car is say a few things they think people like to hear. If an ad says "Well cared for" and nothing else Ask questions! If you don't get thorough. well addressed answers. start planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! This car is ready to go live a beautiful. reliable. enjoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced or rusty Alfa for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of operation! The bit and bobs left to address are minor at best and come offset handsomely with a rebuilt and stout drivetrain. a rust free body. new seats. loads of spare parts and pile of receipts.
