1974 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2000: --Maroon with Tan leather interior, Black carpeting, Restored, 1962cc inline 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission, Alfaholics performance upgrades, Extensively serviced. Designed by the young Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, the GTV was an instant classic from its introduction as the Giulia Sprint GT in 1963. The biggest revision came in 1969, with the elimination of the early "stepped" hood. It was then that the Giulia coupe became known as the GTV. Engine displacement grew over the years, the original carbureted 1570-cc DOHC four-cylinder (1600) was replaced with the 1962-cc (2000) motor in its final evolution, the GTV of 1973-1974. This engine was smoother, torquier and with greater power. Originally a California car, this GTV was purchased by a father and son collector in 2014, it since been restored. It was repainted in its original Maroon color and upholstered in new Tan leather. Many performance upgrades were added to make this iconic Alfa more enjoyable and easier to live with on our modern roads. These upgrades included an Alfaholics Stage 2 Fast Road/Race Suspension Package, upgraded S4-type front bar with stronger drop links, lightweight front spring pans, GTA-style adjustable top suspension arms for easy camber adjustment, Alfaholics springs with Koni adjustable shocks, Alfaholics aluminum rear T-bar, Alfaholics Geometry Pack and Rose Jointed steering arms, Alfaholics Lightweight trailing arms, heavy-duty rear wheel bearings, Alfaholics Lightweight brake calipers with vented/cross drilled rotors, and Alfaholics 7x15 Superleggera GTA-style wheels. Engine upgrades to this GTV include Stage III head with big valves and uprated cams from Wes Ingram, complete rebuild of SPICA injection system matched to cams and head by Wes Ingram, Custom FSR aluminum radiator with integral oil cooler and thermostatically-controlled electric fan, new water pump, new uprated 65A alternator, gear reduction starter, new high capacity fuel pump and Spruel ceramic-coated headers. Lastly, the 5-speed manual gearbox was rebuilt with new synchros and tightened gears and an Alfaholics fast road/race aluminum flywheel and clutch with high-performance organic facing. This GTV has enjoyed proper collector-enthusiast ownership for many years and always maintained regardless of use. This restored GTV is clean with excellent body fitment and no signs of any damage or major repairs. It has also been fitted with a modern radio head unit screen for convenience. A truly iconic sports coupe, this Alfa is comfortable, yet dialed in for around-town cruising. The Alfa GTV’s are well balanced cars with slick gearboxes and nimble/predictable handling, it is a wonderful vintage sports car in every respect. This said, it is extremely hard to find this desirable model in this condition. A recent road test attests to the car performing flawlessly in every way and it is ready for immediate use and enjoyment.
