Description of 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider |
For sale by private party: 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce in excellent condition with 55,000 miles. This two-owner car was purchased new from Cochran & Celli in Berkeley, California andpurchased by the second owner in 2017. This immaculate car is painted in the iconic Alfa Red and has a 2.0 liter Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injected engine with variable valve timing, power windows, power mirrors, power brakes, air conditioning, black leather seats, deep plush carpeting, sport steering wheel, Daytona light alloy wheels with matching spare, and a deluxe top boot cover used when the convertible top is folded. Performance modifications include an improved map of the fuel injection system, which passed California smog in July 2023, Koni shock absorbers, an ANSA dual-tip exhaust system, and an AIWA AM/FM/Cassette pull-out stereo system with 4 speakers. Recent service in preparation for sale includes changing of all lubricants, power-washing the underbody, greasing of the suspension and U-joints, professional installation of a new premium-quality convertible top, detailing of the engine bay, removal and deep cleaning of the Daytona wheels, new battery, new fuel pump and adjacent fuel lines, and professional detailing. This solid car is in immaculate condition, has been garaged its entire life, and has been well-cared for by two Alfa Romeo enthusiasts. It is currently registered and insured in California, and is driven for pleasure on a regular cadence, but not relied upon for daily transport. In September 2022 it was driven on a 900-mile classic car rally through Northern California, and completed the event with no issues other than a tire puncture, which was repaired professionally. All instruments, controls, and indicator lights are fully operational; however the cabin heater does not reach full temperature and has not yet been diagnosed. The dashboard and interior is in excellent condition and shows none of the cracks and warping typical of cars from this era. The black leather seats are immaculate. The car starts cold on the first click, idles smoothly at 1100 rpm, stops evenly and symmetrically under heavy braking, and develops neck-jerking power under full acceleration. The transmission shifts smoothly through all five gears, up and down. The mounted tires are in good condition with date code 2017, and the spare has date code 1995. There is one small round dent in the right rear fender, 5mm in diameter, which has been partially pulled back out. The cigarette lighter is missing. The cam lock for the left vent window has become detached, but has been retained and is included in the spares. A large binder is included with all receipts, correspondence, and service records, as well as the original purchase paperwork, window sticker, toolkit, and leather-bound owner’s manual. Included in the sale is a light nylon aftermarket cover for short-term protection of the convertible top against UV and evening dew. There is not one speck of rust anywhere on the body: see the photos of the trunk and spare tire tub, which is always the first to go. This car will not disappoint. Why am I selling this exceptional vehicle? I have my own ‘65 Giulia Spider Veloce and several other classic cars and motorcycles that I tinker with, including an classic car EV-conversion; I simply have too many vehicles to manage and care for. This is your opportunity to own the iconic Alfa Romeo Spider with literally no baggage and no issues. Don’t miss it. |
