Vehicle Details

This 1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce was purchased as a running project in July 2016 by the previous owner, who subsequently commissioned a repaint in red as well as a refresh of the black leather interior and more than $11k in refurbishment work that was completed by Alfa Italia of Burbank, California, in January 2024. Work included changing various fluids, servicing the brake and suspension components, and replacing the spark plugs, valve cover gasket, air intake boot, fuel strainer, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, fuel lines, and ignition switch. a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with a limited-slip differential, 14″ Campagnolo Daytona alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a black convertible soft top, a rear spoiler, and power windows. Includes a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, and a clean Arkansas title in the seller’s name.

The Pininfarina-designed bodywork was finished from the factory in Alfa Red and was refinished under previous ownership. Exterior details include a black convertible soft top, a front air dam, power-operated side mirrors, and a rear spoiler. Work under prior ownership reportedly included repairing rust around the rocker panels as well as replacing the soft top and leather pull, front badging, headlight rings, wiper linkage, driver’s door buffer, passenger door handle, door seals, rear license plate holder, antenna, and trunk seals. An entry from August 2004 states the car was “declared a total loss by an insurance company,” and close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.

Silver-finished 14″ Campagnolo Daytona alloy wheels wear 185/70 General Altimax RT45 tires that were mounted in preparation for the sale. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner. The brake fluid was changed and the right rear wheel bearing, rear brake pads and rotors, front and rear trailing arm bushings, shocks, hand brake shoes, and a rear spring were replaced in 2023.

The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in black leather under prior ownership. Amenities include power windows, vent windows, air conditioning, and a digital clock. A new dashboard cover has been fitted, and work completed in 2023 included repairing the window lifts and wiring connections and replacing the lower dashboard cover, headlight switch, heater control knobs, and dashboard bulbs. Rust holes in the rear floors and trunk were repaired, per the prior owner.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission fluid and differential fluid were changed and the exhaust heat shields and transmission mounts were replaced in June 2023. The seller notes an intermittent second-gear grind, a well known issue with Alfa Spiders.

The window sticker lists initial delivery to High Performance Cars of Waltham, Massachusetts, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a Total Suggested Retail Price of $21,730.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned total loss entry and lists history in New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, and California from its first entry in July 1994. An entry in December 2023 states that the car is designated a gross polluter in California, and it most recently passed a California smog test in February 2024.
