Gorgeous, rare and attention grabbing 1958 Rambler Ambassador Custom Country Club hardtop. This rare Rambler has had a loving restoration mechanically and cosmetically including a down to bare metal paint job on a dry straight original car in the original factory Georgian Rose and Gotham Grey. Exterior restoration and engine/trans rebuild was performed approx. 9 years ago. Interior upholstery was restored about 2 years ago. Various mechanical restorations and brake upgrade performed within the last 2 years. New correct interior including the correct seat materials and colors, door panels, headliner and Trinidad carpet (added). The previous owner had a huge passion for nostalgia. He met celeberties and had them sign the dash panel of the Rambler with pictures to document his travels and autographs. Autographs on the dash include: Jerry Mathers (The Beaver), Tony Dow (Wally), Burt Ward (Robin the Boy Wonder 60's), Barbara Eden (I Dream of Genie), Members of KISS (Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Paul Stanle, Al Jardine (Beach Boys), Frankie Avalon, Shirley Jones (Partridge Family), Barry Williams (Greg Brady), Ken Osmond (Eddie Haskell). Nothing looks quite like a 1958 Ambassador, what with its comparatively narrow profile, towering slab sides, isosceles tail fins and forward-slanted C-pillars. Two ranges of Ambassadors were produced for the 1958 model year. At the upper end was the Custom line. the Customs' main visual identifier was the silver color used on the big side trim inserts. Power is supplied by a factory OHV V-8 displacing 327 cubic inches and 270hp. A Quick Fuel 4bbl carburetor has been used in place of the original carb and this Rambler is equipped with the optional three-speed push-button automatic transmission. The Rambler brake system was restored and retains stock rear drum brakes but has upgraded modern disc brakes up front for better stopping power and all this wrapped up in new era correct WW tires . Engine and transmission were rebuilt to stock specs with the exception of a modern Quick Fuel 4bbl carburetor. Motor starts right up and is smooth with plenty of power from 270hp! The push button automatic shifts properly with no issues and the car comes with a NOS push button assembly as a back up part. Radiator is rebuilt and the cooling system works properly. This car has been driven around Southern Calif on hot days and with traffic in and around Los Angeles and San Diego areas and no problems with overheating. Front suspension/steering is stock and is in good condition with a rebuilt power steering ram. Dual exhaust runs through replaced mufflers. All gauges function properly and all door locks etc. work properly and have been serviced. This car has power windows as well (rare on a Rambler) which all work properly and smooth. All lighting functions properly and has been inspected. This is just a beautiful example of a 58 Rambler Ambassador Country Club. Seriously if you don't like attention or talking to strangers that just want to ask about the car or tell you that their parents had a Rambler than this car isn't for you lol. If you like off beat cars with crazy late 50s styling inside and out and probably the best color combo for a Rambler period that just puts out a happy fun vibe and creates smiles all around you..then this is the car. The car is wonderful to drive and performs with confidence. No excuses. Looks fantastic inside and out. Undercarriage is clean and solid. Comes with manuals and maintenance history. All autographs are documented with photos by the previous owner. Please ask any questions before bidding and the car can be viewed in So. Cal zip code 91750.Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs.Car is sold as is / where is.Mileage shows approx. 13,000 but cannot be verified as actual miles and it should be assumed that it is has turned over at least once.
