Description of 1970 AMC AMX |
Up for sale is one of the finest examples of any AMX in existence today. This is NOT a #'s matching car. It was built as a pro-touring car with many upgrades to its drive train. suspension and braking systems. It has won multiple awards. was published in Popular Hotrodding magazine and also debuted at the SEMA show in Las Vegas in 2008. This is a one of a kind super fun car that was built to drive. show or add to one's personal collection. Here are some details about this muscle car. Body This is a laser straight all steel body with an incredible two tone shadow mask paint job in silver and black. Both have extremely fine metallic. The bumpers have been molded into the frame and also painted. The exhaust is vented through the sides of the rear quarter panels with a stylish custom billet detail surrounding the flush cut pipes. The stock gas tank was removed and a 20 gallon race tank is mounted in the trunk. Half in the trunk and half below. The battery was also moved to the trunk. Outside of the AMX logo. all other's have been removed and welded shut. I would rate this body as a 2+. It would be a 1 (being perfect) if not for some extremely small scratch or two and minor rock chip blemishes on the quarter panels. All of which are nearly impossible to see unless pointed out. Interior Tuner FX racing seats with a 4 point harness keeps you where you're suppose to be. The dash has been modified with real carbon fiber inlays and Auto Meter pro-comp gauges. It also has a custom center console with additional carbon fiber and a Hurst pistol grip shifter. The door panels Are vinyl with a print that mimics that of carbon fiber. Dynamat has been applied throughout the car. Starting is controlled through a guard dawg keyless ignition system. Tunes are pumped through a dual din JVC stereo with Alpine 6" up front 6x9's in back and 2 ten inch subs with an amplifier. Motor (built by Alfano Performance) AMC 401 that has been bored . 030 over with venolia 10. 5:1 forged pistons and a Crane solid roller cam with 579 lift 242@. 050 duration. Edelbrock components throughout with some aluminum heads that have been heavily massaged. ported and polished. All Mallory ignition components with a 750 Demon carb and a custom 8 quart oil pan. The power steering pump is a modified circle track pump with a remote reserve tank that turns the wheel with ease. Only the best components are on this motor and Alfano Performance says its good for 500hp. Transmissions There are two. First is a Chrysler 727 with a reverse manual valve body. Behind it sits a Gear Vendor overdrive with push button shifting built into the Hurst shifter giving you a six speed transmission with a freeway gear. At current gear ratios this car is doing 2600 rpm's at 70mph. Rear Differential Narrowed Chrysler 8. 75 posi with a 3. 55 gear ratio. Suspension WSC Motorsports front adjustable coilovers with heavy duty rear leaf and sway bar. Braking System Wilwood 13" rotors in front and 12's in the rear with a Wilwood master cylinder Tires and Rims 18" Boyd Coddington junk yard dogs wrapped in 245/40 fronts and 285/35 rears This car is an absolute blast to drive and a head turner wherever it goes. The only thing this car does not have is heating/air conditioning. It does have a nice billet control panel on the dash for such and the vents are there also. Due to the mild weather where I live neither were necessary. Thank you for looking. |
