Description of 1978 AMC Pacer

1978 AMC Pacer. This is a " Change of Pace" Pacer. The car was supplied by AMC to Electric Vehicle Associates in Cleveland Ohio for conversion into an electric vehicle. Google "EVA Pacer" and information on this car will be found.
The car had 25 miles on it when I obtained it. It was used by an inventor that was trying to develop an air operated hybrid vehicle recharging system. Air cylinders mounted next to the shocks compressed air as they traveled up and down and the compressed air was stored in a tank. This compressed air was supposed to turn a generator that recharged the batteries while driving. Some of this system was still mounted on the car when I got it. I did not use for the restoration, but the parts do come with the car along with some written information.
I installed a modern electric vehicle controller and associated components. All original controls are included. The only original item missing is the original Lester battery charger. This Pacer uses 20 six volt golf car batteries for a power source. A laptop with software for programming/monitoring the controller will be provided. I have photographs and other records of the restoration process. New batteries are needed. I will provide and install the batteries for the new owner. If you maintain the batteries, you will get about 5 years service in a midwestern climate.
Car needs a 30 amp / 120v circuit for the charger.
I have only driven the car about 50 miles since I finished restoration. I have had the speed up to 60mph. I am not sure of the range at this speed.
I was invited to bring it to the 2015 AMO International convention in Independence, Ohio as a featured vehicle. The score was 194 out of 200 points (1st time out), awarded a Junior Gold, and elevated to senior status. I did not show car again. It has been in climate controlled storage since.
I do have a video available of the car being driven.
The undercarriage of the car is as clean and detailed as the top.
There is a crack on the passenger door panel as shown in the photos.
This is a rare car for the American Motors collector.
Full payment is due with 7 days of close of auction. I can provide wire transfer instructions. Car can not be loaded until payment is received and cleared.
The buyer must pick up car or arrange shipping. I do have area for car carrier loading.
