Description of 1977 AMC Other |
1977 AMC Pacer XHi there! I'm reluctantly selling this highly optioned 1977 Pacer X. We recently moved from somewhere with plenty of room for our cars to somewhere with very little and parking and storage was one of the sacrifices. The car was in a dry climate for almost all of its life and also largely garaged so it's not right for it to now be in my driveway in the rain and elements here. If I had the room I would not sell this Pacer. This is a really great original car.The Good: Color is the beautiful Robbins Egg Blue. It has the 258-6 engine and 75000 miles on the odometer which I believe to be original. The car has the rare rally pack and all gauges work. It also has the factory tachometer and it works too. All the glass is good (thankfully... these windshields have become impossible to find!). Engine is in great shape and it runs awesome. NO SMOKE. Recent compression check showed all was great. It's been a well maintained car and you'll be able to tell that. The engine bay is incredibly clean. The interior is also in great shape. The blue leather seats are in nice shape and have no tears that I've found. These wheels are also the best looking that came on the Pacer in my opinion. One other interesting thing about this car... I've owned a lot of Pacers and every one of them has had firewall rust.... but not this one! Underneath the car is also remarkably spotless. You can tell this car came from the dry climate of the Southwest. Fortunately the previous owner had garaged it and taken care of the interior plastic and the dash which usually suffer in the Southwest. Really a beautiful Pacer. The Bad: Full disclosure is that it has a clicking noise going on from the front of the transmission. The car shifts fine right now when driving it's been like this for quite some time but over time I'm told it will likely need to be looked at. Who knows when could be fine for a while. A mechanic said to just keep driving it. It's not hard to find a Pacer transmission which is the way I was going to go but as I stated above I really don't have the space for the car anymore anyways and its time to pass it on. I've seen them on here and elsewhere for a few hundred bucks plus installation costs. No doubt it car would be worth a lot more if it weren't for this issue. The car isn't brand new and there are signs of age but it's a great original Pacer for someone who appreciates these cars. Here are some smaller things of note I just don't want anyone to be surprised:
