Description of 1958 Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster

Absolutely gorgeous 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster finished in correct original color Old English White with Black Leather with White piping interior. 2,639cc/117hp 6-Cylinder Engine. 4-speed manual plus overdrive transmission. It has the original factory hardtop, as well as a new soft-top. The subject of a comprehensive professional restoration which included; New Chrome, New Rubber, Refurbished Fuel and Hydraulic Systems, New Wiring Harness, Stainless Wire Wheels with New Tires, Side Curtains, New Carpet and Extensive Mechanical Restoration/Refurbishment to all Components. The original fasteners were even replated. Two upgrades were made for safety and comfort: BN3000 model front disc brakes were installed for added stopping power (all 100-6s came from the factory with drum brakes on all four wheels), and an overdrive transmission, which was an available factory option, was added for a more relaxed motoring experience at freeway speeds.
A very extensive restoration on this car was performed by the experts at Healey Lane Restoration of Oregon. The already excellent condition body was stripped to bare metal and needed the very minimum of bodywork to make it ready for paint. Only 10,826 100-6 BN4s were built from 1956-59 and, with attrition, there may be only a few hundred excellent examples remaining worldwide. If you're in the market for a blue-chip collectible that is ready to drive, show, and enjoy for years to come, this 1958 BN4 Roadster is definitely worthy of consideration.
Austin-Healey production started in 1953 with the 4-cylinder 100-4 model. In 1956, a new 6-cylinder model was introduced with revised bodywork that included two small rear jump seats for children. Beginning in 1958, the 100-6 was offered in two configurations, the two-seat BN6 and 2+2 BN4. This BN4 features a rare optional hardtop, which cost the buyer an extra $239 in 1958. It was in the possession of one Oregon owner from 1963 to 2010 and it was fully restored in 2010 by John Wilson's Healey Lane Restoration. The restoration included a bare metal repaint, new chrome, top, carpet, side curtains, stainless wire wheels, tires, fuel system, hydraulic system, and wiring harness, as well as extensive mechanical restoration. The transmission was upgraded to the overdrive type and front disc brakes from the later 3000 model were added, but the car is otherwise very correct and exceptionally well presented.
The Austin-Healeys were the result of an unusual collaboration between sports car builder Donald Healey and Austin, a major producer of the small sedans that were so popular in postwar Europe. Healey had been a successful rally driver in the 1920s and technical director of Triumph in the 1930s, but he set out on his own as soon as WWII ended. The first Healeys featured a proprietary chassis and body but were powered by a variety of engines, including those from Riley, Alvis, and Nash. In 1952 BMC (Austin's parent company) staged a competition to generate designs for a new sports car based on Austin mechanicals, and Donald Healey's 'Hundred' was selected as the winning entry.
