Description of 1960 Austin Healey 3000 3000 MK1 BT-7 ROADSTER |
**PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE AD LISTING PAGE TO VIEW A COMPLETE SET OF DETAILED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE**Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this pretty decent Austin Healey 3000 with the 3-liter engine and front disc brakes. This car was recently purchased from Northern California from a car restorer who couldn't find time to work on this project aside from his regular business. This car is an ideal candidate for a restoration. The car appears to have been off the road since 1993.The body on this car appears very decent with a few needed lower repairs and and some general straightening up and tapping into shape. Gaps all around are pretty reasonable. There are some dents on the LH rear fender. The door bottoms could use a strip of metal let in to repair the bubbling areas. The lower fenders could use the usual cutoff panel replacement pieces. The outer rockers are currently the originals and look decent. Hood and grille fit are very good, as this car hasnt sustained any front end damage and looks great in that respect. The front and rear shrouds actually appear quite nice. Underneath, the main chassis rails are rock solid and straight. The car needs a LH outrigger replacement, not from rust damage but from someone cutting into it, wanting more exhaust clearance. The car's inner rockers look very solid. The previous owner started the process of removing the original floor sheetmetal. Brand new sheetmetal main floors, toe boards, and trunk floor panels are provided, 5 pieces total. Floor replacement on these cars is very straightforward and can be done by the DIYer in a weekend...The car's interior trim needs restoration but looks to be complete, including dashboard, instruments, gauges, switches, heater, correct steering wheel/ trafficator. The top frame/ top assembly isn't present but is now available new for a reasonable price. The windshield is the original Triplex. The car's engine appears to be from a 3000 MK2 according to the 29E aluminum engine tag, which is an upgrade to 130 horsepower. The gearbox is the desirable later centershift unit, which is also a welcome upgrade from the earlier sideshift unit. The car's steering box operates smoothly. The previous owner said the engine ran fine in the past. It currently turns nicely by hand and we are in process of getting it to run again. The car still retains it's original body tag and VIN plate, along with it's older small California "pink slip". There are accompanying parts pictured which include some interior and body hardware.Overall, a good honest car for straightforward improvement in great original colors for a Big Healey. this car is nicely optioned with the bonus of being fiteed with the later MK2 engine and desirable centershift gearbox. Appropriately priced for a good project. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer. Buyer to verify authenticity, matching numbers, condition, year, model, make, color, type, rarity or provenance and all other relevant information. This car is sold with a clear title and is available for inspection by appointment. This car is located in Southern California,35 minutes (30 miles)from the Los Angeles Port of Long Beach.
