Description of 1960 Austin Healey Sprite

This is a nearly unrepeatable opportunity to buy one of the best Bugeye/Frogeye Sprites out there. Several years were spent having this car restored to an exacting standard using only top quality parts to bring this low mileage rust free car up to spec. We started out with a 1 family owned rust free Bugeye that while worn was complete and in good shape. The car was disassembled professionally by a local British Car restoration shop. The body was sent out to one of the best local shops for repair and repainting in a deep gloss black which in my opinion. is one of the best colors on these great little cars. When the car returned the assembly began with all the new. NOS and rebuilt parts we had been scouring the world for. The engine is a lightly tuned but the original 948cc motor that has been fully rebuilt. and run in. It has the orignal SU carbs as well as an original tach drive generator that works perfectly. Nothing has been modified or is missing. As a matter of safety. the brakes and suspension were upgraded with front disc brakes. and poly susp. bushes front and rear. At this time the car was converted to run wire wheel axels & hubs front and rear. This allows for the traditional wire wheels to be used or the rare knock off minilite alloy wheels that it wears in the pictures. The interior was not overlooked either. This car has a full leather interior which was custom made by a local upholstery craftsman who specialized in vintage european cars. Not only are the seats full leather. but the dash is covered in leather as well. Several carpet kits were ordered and rejected before having the same shop custom cut and bind new carpet for the car. The result is one of the best Sprite interiors I have seen. It's Beautiful! It of course has all new weather equipment such as a new top & side curtains. It also comes with an original jack in its jute bag. owners manual. car cover and other small items. There are countless upgrades and touches on this car that are too numerous to mention such as a mirror polished trim. fully coated exhaust. stainless steel bolts and hardware everywhere. etc. It is truly the best Sprite I could have built. To replicate this car would cost well over twice my "buy it now" price. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime.
