Description of 1965 Austin Healey 3000

A beautiful Austin Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8, certainly one of the very best classic English sports cars ever built.
Engine is the original six cylinder, 3 liter OHV engine with two SU carbs, excellent oil pressure, no smoke cold or hot, smooth, powerful, and extremely flexible. Coupled to a rebuilt 4 speed transmission with overdrive operating on 3rd and 4th gears offering a total of 6 forward ratios.
Excellent body, repainted a few years ago, and with a 'mirror finish' (see photos). Excellent chrome and trim, all original interior (other than new carpets), beautiful wood dash, all original gauges work, modern stereo/CD, converted to negative ground.
Wire wheels are in excellent condition as are tires. Tight front end, brakes recently redone, new exhaust, very good top and boot cover, and original style Hadura matting in the trunk. And 'underneath,' excellent floors with no undercoating or any other form of 'hidden secrets.' A nice, solid classic car.
Starts instantly, runs flawlessly, overdrive clicks in and out perfectly, wonderful at 60, 70, 80 or more mph in overdrive/top gear. All of the long distance comfort at highway speeds offered by a Jaguar or Aston Martin but for far less expensive AND with very easy service and repair costs.
Most every part one would need is available from a source such as Moss Motors, with a solid back axle, pushrod engine, simple wiring and electrics, owning a Healey offers far more enjoyable ownership and simple maintenance compared to than complicated cars.
And there is more..........effortless to paint the side scallops a deep matching red for a dramatic look. Add electronic ignition (never a need for a future tune up), a shrouded electric radiator fan (for a hot weather environment), and other inexpensive options to help ensure years of trouble free ownership.
