Description of 1960 Austin Healey Sprite |
1960 BugEye (aka “FrogEyeâ€) Sprite Asking $15000.00 or Make Offer! LIGHT "IRIS BLUE" (also known as “Speedwell Blueâ€) This was a California car for all of its life (until I shipped it east a few years ago). The body is showing very straight lines with no dents or dings & has some of the best panel gaps that I have ever seen on a Bugeye Sprite. The trunk area is solid with no rust, & the battery area is solid as well. Both doors shut tightly with no rattles. All wheel wells are solid with no rust. The floors are solid with no history of rust, other than the driver’s side footwell which has been patched at some point in the past. There are a couple of very small rust bubbles at the very bottom of the A-pillars. (I was tempted to just cover these with a small Union Jack flag emblem, but I never did.) (These are minor (& typical for Sprites) flaws that are barely noticeable & could be easily remedied for very little cost.) The paint is in very good condition with the only visible flaws being a couple of minor chips at the nose and some small paint bubbles (paint lifting) along both of the upper rear fender body seams. (These are barely noticeable paint flaws in my opinion. But the paint could easily be touched up & brought back to 100% by a reputable paint shop for very little cost.) The paint color is the original Speedwell Blue. I would rate the paint as a solid 8 out of 10. The windshield is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. Windshield frame is very good and the original rubber windshield trim is still in fair/good condition. Rear chrome bumpers have excellent shine & no pitting. Left bumper has one small dent, approx. the size of a quarter. Front grill & chrome headlight rings are excellent. A pair of great looking headlight stone grills have been installed. Interior is nice, with no major flaws. Instrument panel is nice with all of the original gauges in working order. It has been upgraded to a 1098cc engine. A nice set of Minilite wheels have been installed. Has been resprayed once in the original Iris Blue (or Speedwell Blue) color. This excellent example has been parked untouched (dry storage, inside & under a car cover) for a couple of years, so it will need to have some normal maintenance (fluids changed, brakes bled, etc.) done prior to being fully road worthy. (Currently garaged/stored in Michigan, just west of Detroit.) Asking $15000.00 or Make Offer!
Please note: I have done my very best to describe this vehicle honestly, thoroughly, & to the very best of my abilities.
