Description of 1966 Austin Healey 3000 3000 Mk. III |
1966 Austin Healy BJ8 for Sale This is an unrestored but mechanically and visually sound BJ8. I am the second owner and I purchased it in 1969. The odometer has been broken for many years but in the last 25 years it has probably averaged 100 miles per year. I’d estimate that it has less than 50. 00 miles on the engine. if that. It has always been maintained by mechanics specializing in Healey’s and MG’s. I can put you in touch with one of them (now retired) who worked on it for many years. Drive it and you will immediately know that this is a sound car mechanically. If you want a classic vehicle to drive away and not need to touch this could be it. It is red inside and out and is mostly original. The paint job is not original and is the weak point. It’s fine for most folks but not show quality. The wheels need paint/powder coating. The seats are original vinyl that have been repaired in minor ways and are fine. The carpeting was replaced by me from a Moss Motors kit many years ago so a picky person may wish to replace it with a higher quality job. The radio is original but is missing one of the two knobs. The interior wood has some scratches but is not broken. The wheels are rims. with hubcaps. The tires have little wear. The original tonneau and boot cover are there. although I recently had a new tonneau made as the original had shrunk some. The boot cover has a small hole in it. The top is not original but is fine. It’s probably been in the “up” position twice in 40 years. More photos are available if desired. Make me an offer that I can’t refuse. I’m selling because I rarely drive it anymore; my wife doesn’t like the convertible life. Better someone gets to enjoy it as I did. The car is in the San Francisco Bay area.
