Description of 1958 Austin Healey Other 100-6

Offered for sale for the first time in 33 years…. One 1959 Austin Healey 100-6. Chassis number BN6L/613. This car has been lovingly owned by the same owner since 1983. The owner recently passed. Nostalgia Garage has been asked to assist in the sale of this car by the new owner. This is a numbers matching car as evidenced by the Heritage Certificate. Between 1983 and 1986 the car had much restoration work done. Chrome. wiring. paint. leather interior. floor pans. rocker panels. instruments…. the list goes on. I have receipts documenting every dime that was spent on the car. I will be happy to scan and send copies of all receipts to any serious inquiry. Bennett French . formerly of The British Connection and now owner of Nostalgia Garage in Charleston. SC has meticulously maintained this car over the last 15 years or so. One of the last major bits of work performed was to completely overhaul the engine. Mechanically . the car is extremely sorted. The suspension is tight …. the brakes are all new (shoes. cylinders. hardware. hoses)…. the wheels and splined hubs are all new (wheels from Hendrick Wire Wheel. tires from Coker). stainless exhaust. overdrive works well. syncros all good. leather interior by Sports and Classic. SU carbs rebuilt a few years ago by Joe Curto SU. distributor rebuilt and properly set up by Advanced Distributor. alloy engine sump. new top. new side curtains. many new in the box spare parts. The bad: While the paint still shines and looks good at a glance. there are chips and the paint is crazed…. especially from the fuel filler down. It appears to have been painted in lacquer and is doing what older lacquer paint jobs do. They develop cracks with age. Some of the panel fitment is not good. Most noticeable is the passenger door. The door closes fine but appears to be warped and juts out from the rocker at the rear of the door. I think I could twist the door back to where it needs to be but am afraid of what the paint might do if I do that. The front cross member has been used as a jacking point as they have been over the years on most Healey’s. It has caved the metal in and needs to be fixed. I had planned on fixing this before the car leaves my shop. The fuel gauge is not working properly. I am pretty sure the sending unit is to blame. Note: Nostalgia Garage is a premier classic auto restoration shop located in Charleston. SC. We are very experienced with Healeys. I. Bennett French would be very happy to continue to look after this car for the new owner . When it comes time to repaint the car. we have a top notch paint shop here ……. I have many more photos. Just ask. nostalgiagaragesc (dot) com
