Description of 1961 Austin Healey Sprite

This a very rare car with a well documented history. The first car was originally sold in the south of France and was imported to Mexico while it's owner a translator the French Olympic team was there for the 1968 Olympic games in Mexico City. She made friends with a couple brothers from Texas who where in medical school down there. They brought the car back to Texas with them after the games and in exchange for a ticket back to France she gave them the car. The original engine broke and was replaced with a Datsun 1200 motor the windscreen was broken during a race when someone through a rock at the windscreen. This car is very rust free there is surface rust on the top side because the long time owner of the car was going to start restoration with his son and they started sanding it down but that never went any further. This car was originally sold the gal in France it wore the French license plate which is still on the car 238CV66. I have the US Treasury documents from the vehicle's importation to Texas through Mexico from 1969. These documents list the original owner Marie from Perpignan France and the French plate 238CV66 as well as the history of Mr. Navar being a student in Mexico and wanting to take the car back to Mexico after receiving a Texas registration. The Informal Entry form from the Treasury Department is also included stating the original engine number as well as the cars serial number.Other documentation includes a color copy of the original Texas title from 1970 the original copies of the title application from 1969 as well as registrations from 1969 1970 1971 1972 and 1974. An original Hartford insurance card from 1974 as well as the insurance help guide. Bills of Sales are included from Mr Navar to Mr McCullough in 2003 and from Mr McCullough to Mr Mooney in 2004 and from Mr Mooney to me in 2007. The original receipt for the Datsun 1200 motor is included it was purchased from Northgate Auto Salvage in 1973.The dash plaques on the car indicated that it was entered in to at least the following events: Triumph Owners Club of El Paso's Sun Carnival Slalom in 1969 and 1970 Pan American SCCA's Tally Ho II in 1971 and SATANIC in 1973.This car has a clear Iowa title and I have managed to complete the car with the missing bits that I did not receive with it including the rear tail lenses and the windscreen trim. A new windscreen can be bought online from Mr Fiat. The original trunk mat is intact and in good shape. The top is there and complete but needs replaced a new one can be patterned from it. The tires are brand new and the car rolls very easily.
