Description of 1957 Austin Healey Other

Rare 1957 Austin Healey with very rare 1962 T-Bird 406CI Tri Power Motor from a M coded 1962 T-Bird if its stock it was 405 HP from the factory. Car has been professionally built by someone other than myself. It has a B&M automatic racing transmission and a Ford 9 inch rear end. Comes with roll bar. Chassis has been boxed and a special heavy duty engine cradle installed. Rins and drives well. Has some type of stall speed converter and so far I can't find neutral appears to be drive or reverse only.

Body is in pretty good condition one dent in driver rear quarter and smaller one around the bodyand since its a black license plate car it most likely spent it life in California some rust in rockers but not bad for a old Austin Healey. Chassis appears to be intact without any serious rust that I can see. Car has been stored inside in the 31 years I have owned it. Car is missing gauges and what you see in the pictures is what you get.

There were only 275 406 Ford T_birds built in 1962 find yourself a M code T_bird and put this engine in it and you will have a very rare car. Motor has casting code of C2AE-J with HP marking and DIF below it. Date code appears to be 2D11. Some of the casting numbers are hard to read the C2A is clear and the J but not the middle E.

I have owned this car since 1983 and have somehow misplaced the title I do have a DMV 10/83 deposit of fee receipt in my name with the license number on the receipt. I also have a temporary operating permit 10/5/83. SoI will give the buyer abill of sale and the paperwork described. Due to the age of the vehicle and not being registered it will not be in the DMV system any longer. I cannot find a VIN number tag on the car the typical location of the VIN on an old Austin appears to have beenmodified when the 406 was installed.

Car maybe worth more money with the engine removed and both the car and the engine sold separately I just dont have time to do this. I am in the process of thinning out my collection. There a big market for old Austin Healeys look at Hemmings and the number of buyer wanting these cars

Unknown mileage no speedo and just installed a new battery

I can help loadto your shipper. Full payment clearing the bank required before the car moves.

Thanks to a very knowledgeable Austin Healeycollector I found that the body number is stamped under the aluminum trim pieces on the doors its body number is 652. This makes it a very early car off the assembly line in 1956 as a 1957 model. The 1957 100-6 was introduced Sept 28th 1956. It was the 652 nd car off the Austin assembly line.

Also have posted side pictures of the car as requested.
