Description of 1966 Austin Healey 3000 3000 MK3 BJ-8 PHASE II |
**PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE AD LISTING PAGE TO VIEW A COMPLETE SET OF DETAILED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE**Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very good, straight, solid and honest late BJ-8 "double-lamp" convertible. The 1966/67 models were the final variation of the marque's 3000 model with roll-up windows, walnut dashboard, easy folding convertible softtop, improved centershift transmission, power brakes, 150 bhp engine, revised rear suspension, and quieter exhaust system. This car was nicely restored about 30 years ago in Texas. It currently runs and drives very well. It's been mostly in storage since then and is now ready for an easy cosmetic freshening. The body on this car is excellent with great fitting/shutting doors, and nice fitting hood and trunk lid. There's no signs of rust anywhere and the body doesn't require any repairs. The dogleg area and outer rockers were properly repaired during it's first restoration, and a new trunk floor was noted as well. The car simply could use a nice paintjob as part of it's cosmetic improvements. The car's underside is super solid with no areas of rust, with everything looking correct, rustfree, and as it should. The mainrails, outriggers, and all other frame parts look solid and straight. The car's chromework is showing some age/staining. The windshield needs replacing. The car's interior trim looks very decent and isn't too bad, but could look a bit tired after crisp and fresh paintjob. Dashboard wood looks quite good. The car needs a softtop fitted. The steering wheel needs replacing too. The wiring harness looks good.Mechanically, the car is excellent. The carbs have been rebuilt recently. The car's engine starts smoothly and quietly on the key with a nice and even note through it's stainless steel exhaust system. Oil pressure is 55psi running. There is no smoke or noises. The clutch, gearbox and rear axle all go about their job quietly. The gearbox shifts fine with a nice working overdrive unit and a silent first gear. Clutch and brake hydraulics work fine. The car steers, handles, rides, goes, and stops well. It would need tires. The original air cleaners are included. The trunk area looks very good and well preserved.Overall, a fantastic car for easy cosmetic improvement. This car is structurally and mechanically excellent and simple cosmetics would work wonders to such a lovely, well-preserved car.A video of the car running and driving can be viewed at the following link:https://youtu.be/-C95PwO2VfA Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions.
