Description of 1957 Beck Lister -- |
This Beck Lister Roadster was purchased in February 2002 from Chuck Beck in Southern California as a bare frame with a fiberglass body. It was then completed using the 350ci V8 and suspension system from a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette donor car, and many aluminum components were also utilized. The engine has been bored 0.060? over, balanced, and upgraded with Flo-Tek heads, Keith Black 9.9:1 pistons, and a 327/350 camshaft. The car weighs around 1,900 pounds wet, and power is put to the ground through a BW Super T10 4-speed manual gearbox. Now showing 26,611 miles, this Beck Lister is registered as a 1957 Jaguar and is now being offered with a spare set of racing seats, a pair of straight-pipes with no baffles, and a transferable New York registration. The Corvette suspension system features QA1 front shocks with a mono-leaf and Bilstein shocks in the rear. Halibrand-style knock-off wheels are fitted and wear BFGoodrich tires all around, and the top of the Lexan windshield is just 39 inches above the ground. Please see the two-minute video detailing the interior, exterior, and driving characteristics of the car. Exterior flaws are listed as some polish swirls in the windshield, a chip in the right headlight lens, some road rash on the left-rear fender and belly, and a few chips on the lowest part of the nose below the mouth opening. The driver and passenger seats are lightweight one-piece buckets with harnesses. A second set of hard plastic racing seats will also be included and are shown in the photo gallery. A quick-release Grant GT steering wheel allows easier for ingress/egress as shown below. Aside from critical instrumentation and switchgear, the cabin is spartan, with no soft top, stereo, heater, or air conditioning. According to the seller, all instrumentation is functional. 350ci V8 produced 350+ horsepower. The engine was installed 2? toward the passenger side for better weight distribution, and also to accommodate a larger driver’s pedal box. This Beck Lister was maintained by the previous owner from new, and it was last serviced by him in April 2017. The oil was changed every 18 months since the build was completed.
