Description of 1957 Bentley Other S1 |
1957 Bentley S1 Freestone & Webb Saloon Beautifully optioned an very rare Freestone & Webb Limited coach built Bentley! One of only 13 produced, nd this is believed one of the very last! A great investment into a splendidly restored example! It performs as equally well as it looks! A truly elegant sedan from an ultra-luxury marque! The art of true coach built cars was all but lost post-World War II making truly unique, ersonalized vehicles harder to find, r too expensive to manufacture. In England, ltra-luxury Rolls Royce and Bentley were now offering a complete car built in-house for the very first time reducing the number, nd necessity, o sell chassis-only units to external coachbuilders. A long time private coachbuilder for Bentley & Rolls Royce named Freestone & Webb Limited, est known for their "Top Hat" style design, as still high on the list for an elite number of private individuals. Freestone & Webb celebrated 9 consecutive Gold Metal honors in the private category at the London Motor Show exhibits over the years. The Top Hat look became known as the Razor Edge style in publications and is distinctly recognizable! Freestone & Webb only produced approximately 15 or so vehicles each year, aking all of them very special to collectors today. In 1957, he new Bentley S1 was introduced, nd was continued to be offered in a chassis-only purchase option. Only 13 proud owners took advantage of this option, nd Freestone & Webb produced a truly gorgeous Saloon! It would be the last offering by Freestone & Webb Limited after 35 years of successful coachbuilding. We believe this stunning example, ody #1825, o be one of the very last they built! We are very pleased to represent this 1957 Bentley S1 Freestone & Webb Saloon finished in gorgeous two-tone Metallic Blue over Magnolia leather interior with Blue piping and rugs. Options include original 4.9L Inline 6 cylinder engine mated to an advanced 4-speed automatic transmission, ir conditioning, ower steering, ower-assisted drum brakes, miths instrumentation, ear picnic tray tables & adjustable reading lamps, ront passenger vanity mirror hidden the glove box, ual exterior fender mounted mirrors, ront badge bar proudly displaying Rolls Royce Owner's Club medallions, nd upgraded Am/FM/Cassette radio mounted discretely under the center dash. According to former records, his example sold new to M.Y. Herbert Jenkins on January 15th, 958. It remains in wonderful condition complete with original owner' s manual & service handbook, and tools, nd large tools all presented nicely in the boot. It was restored professionally, echanically & cosmetically, o the tune of $100,000 invested by a past owner of 20 years. The results continue to remain splendid today after 10 years, nd everything on this S1 operates as it should! All instrumentation is perfectly functional, ll window glass is crystal clear, nd the surprisingly powerful 6 cylinder engine runs without any hesitation though a smooth shifting transmission. The air conditioning was upgraded to a modern compressor and continues to blow cold with individual front & rear blower fan controls. It spent many years protected on the West Coast of California and attended the RROC National Meet In Stevenson, A for a Concours Class win in 2007. It led to an invitation at Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance. It continues to impress and has been part of an exclusive, rivate collection for many years here in Missouri. Only due to the owner's passing has this car become available to purchase again today. Please feel free to call with additional questions or to schedule an appointment to view firsthand.
