Introduced in 1991, the Continental R was a large luxury coupe and was one of their first models in almost 40 years that wasn't based on a Rolls Royce. It was the fastest, most expensive and most powerful Bentley of all time and was the world's most expensive car when it hit the market. Despite weighing over 5,400lbs, the cars came standard with a 6.75L V8 with a massive Garrett turbocharger that pumped out 360hp and 500lb-ft of torque. The... car used the new 4-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission which had been exhaustively tested by Rolls Royce for over 1 million miles and modified by them in order to deliver very high levels of refinement. Other features and refinements included self-levelling hydraulic suspension and twin calliper ventilated disc brakes at the front. Engine management was provided by an MK-Motronic digital fuel injection setup with a fully mapped ignition control system. When introduced, top speed was 145 mph (233 km/h) with a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 6.6 seconds. Just 1,236 cars were made. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very rare and stunning 1994 Continental R for your consideration. Endless amounts of money has been spent to keep this car in tip top condition and it still shows very well. The paint and bodywork are in fabulous condition and the Silica metallic paint is stunning. The body is also accented by a deep purple pinstripe. The mushroom colored leather features brown piping and is in excellent condition. The large amounts of multi-species wood trim is a classy touch for sure and probably the only flaw in this car is that some of the wood has cracking veneer. Real metal trim and leather trim on everything gives a cosy, English feel to the comfortable interior. The car is extremely well equipped with everything you can think of from power windows, heated and powered seats, power locks, trip computer, twin horns, premium audio, air condition. The outside is accented by larger chrome wheels as well as twin exhausts. Very few cars have the same level of class, comfort, and prestige as a Bentley. The sticker price for this car was $275k in 1994, which would be almost half a million dollars today. This car comes with both keys, factory service manual, owners handbook and a whole bunch of receipts for things such as an entire front end rebuild and engine servicing! Impress your friends and family with this soon to be classic! To see over 80 photos of this car, including undercarriage please visit our website
