1959 Bentley S1Harold Radford “Countryman” AdaptationsLast of the 6 cylinder engines

For over 68 years I have been selling both new and pre owned, from this same location, the marquise of the motoring world, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Excalibur, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar just to name a few. The Bentley S1 along with the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was introduced in 1955. It differed from its predecessor the R-Type with a totally new exterior body, three inch longer wheel base, lower build and larger luggage boot, softer suspension, lighter steering and improved braking and an engine capacity increased to 4887cc. Between 1955-1959 production was only 3,538 and of those only a few were imported to the US. This particular, one of a kind, example was special ordered by ErnestW. Boissevain (who was married to the famous opera singer Jean Tennyson) and delivered to the Hotel Pierre in New York where they stayed when in New York. The original order consisted of special modifications by the coachbuilder Harold Radford at an astronomical cost. Some of these modifications included front seats that recline rearward to form a bed, rear seats that fold forward to provide additional storage, six locking storage compartments, rear opening vent windows, 2 original pigskin covered flasks, a Brexton Picnic Hamper service for 6 and a Bentley umbrella/walking stick. It also comes with extreemly rare air conditioning.

It is finished in antelope over burgundy with beige Connelly leather interior surrounded by beautiful burled walnut. It is fitted with the everlasting 4.9L L I6 engine which is far superior to the later 8 cylinder engine. It had a major service done in 2017 and an updated service in 2019.

This is for the individual who is looking for a classic that has been serviced and ready to go.
