Description of 1988 BMW 6-Series L6 |
| The BMW L6 was a limited edition luxury coupe based on the 635CSI E24 series “Shark. ” Everything on the rare and expensive L6 was standard. there were no options except the colors. Leather was throughout the interior. seats. doors. sidewalls. and headliner. The L6 has both Sport and Economy automatic transmission settings. cruise control. ABS. dual air conditioning. power sunroof. power windes. power seats. etc. The rear passengers have their own separate air conditioning plus an AC system cooled soft drink compartment between their seats. This very rare 1988 model L6 was the first year E24 series BMW to have the smaller. modern. and better looking front and rear bumpers. plus a drivers airbag. The 1988 model year had only 102 brought into the US for sale. This particular L6 spent its earlier life in the Chicago area. owned by just two members of the Prete family. "Rare L6” as it was also tagged while in Illinois. won awards by the Prete's from various BMW group car shows while in the Chicago area. This included three National Championships in the BMW Car Club of America Concours d’Elegance competitions. Many nice upgrades have been done. including 17” BBS RK wheels with Yokohama AVA sport tires. the Dinan performance chip. an Alpine CD/radio with trunk disk changer through Boston acoustic speakers. K&N cold air intake . . . as but a few examples. More recently here in Wichita I replaced the old style and ineffective factory BMW AC system with a modern R134 system. The problematic original air ride shock system was also replaced with four adjustable Bilstein touring shocks. “Rare L6” has no damage history. a clean Carfax. with just 182. 00 miles total. and is owned free and clear. There are no "squawks" on the car and she runs great. having been most recently maintained by Peter at the Import Auto Center here in Wichita. nbsp;the local BMW guru. This BMW has no dents. door dings. outstanding paint. good windows and chrome. with a very nice and original tan soft leather interior. The car when it is driven out and about is never parked next to others. is never out when it rains. is always stoed inside under a cover. and with a trickle charger attached to the battery (both supplied). Also included with the car are the hard-to-find Owner’s manual. sales flyers. support manuals. and many other BMW documents. There is the factory BMW rechargeable glove box flashlight . . . and for those who know how rare this is. the complete BMW tool kit in the trunk lid. “Rare L6” runs well. and I only drive the car just occasionally. So it has now come time to put my rare automobile investment efforts elsewhere. I know you will greatly enjoy “Rare L6” just as I have. |
