Description of 1989 BMW 3-Series |
(I am selling for a good friend. I am a BMWCCA member and also have owned E30s so I know this car well). He purchased this car last summer to restore and has spent a lot of time and money to-date to improve the E30. Still needs some cosmetic work, but starts, runs and drives great. He hates to sell, but pending personal issues require that he move this BMW. Factory five speed manual transmission along with the factory limited slip differential. Car has 170,600 miles on the odometer (that still works). No rust!! The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 162,115 miles on February 1, 2014 The AC works and blows cold with no leaks. Tires on factory 14” bottle cap rims have less than 1,500 miles on them (still have the nubs). Spare tire is factory original bottle caps. Recently replaced in the last six months: brake rotors, brake pads, front upper and lower control arms, suspension bushings, steering rack boots, lollipops, guibo, shifter bushings, gear selector rod seal, transmission mounts, muffler, all belts and shocks for hood, trunk, and convertible top cover. Added a carbon fiber cold air intake and snorkel from KA Motors, Race Skids Cross Brace, Condor Racing "Shorty" weighted shifter, and custom Alcantara "M" stitched shifter and E-brake boots. Convertible top has no rips or tears, seams are excellent and rear plastic window does not leak. New strike plates installed. Manual top latch locks properly. Has a dash cap over existing dash. The car use to have a blue interior, I switched it to black. Replaced old faded blue carpeting with aftermarket black carpet, replaced rear panels with black panels from another convertible. Painted front door cards with vinyl paint, which looks factory. Front sport seats are in good condition and all adjustments work properly. Rear seats are in decent condition, some minor wear to the stitching on right seat. Leather on seat bottoms of rear seats is a little hard, but not cracked. Car is wired for heated seats (current seats are not heated). Original white paint is in decent condition with wear expected from a car of this vintage. Front and rear bumpers have been painted black with plasti dip (very good condition underneath). All lights work properly, all electric windows work properly, all gauges work (occasional warning light flashes, tapping removes light). I replaced factory stereo with a new Kenwood stereo which has cd, bluetooth, iHeart Radio and Pandora, as well as an amp with 10" subwoofer in the rear trunk. Radio has color adjustment to match orange BMW lights. Overhead computer works, and OBC center console computer works (except temperature). Additional parts include new rotor, new rotor cap, new throttle switch, new front and rear wheel bearings, headlight assembly, factory air box and filter. |
