I bought this car second hand in Jackson, MS as a daily driver and have had for about 7 years. It originally came from Venice Beach, California. This 2002 will hug a curve on a dime. She is a head-turning fly ride looking for a good time. I am not a knowledgeable enthusiast on these cars, but will fill in the details as I know them. She has a rebuilt engine with roughly 10,000 miles on it. Runs but needs some engine work. Has a rear brake cylinder leak, an oil leak, some minor body rust and an exhaust leak. This is the last year that the 2002's had a carburetor. 5-speed manual transmission with a new clutch / slave and master cylinder (less that 10,000 miles). Original BMW factory windows. This car has no frills - no stereo / heat / ac / door locks. The battery is brand spankin' new with less than 10 miles on it. Front forward suicide hood - Good tires all way around. New ignition and starter - Dash in great shape. This is what I would consider a perfect example of a project car for someone who knows what they are doing and who knows where to finds parts from the right source and either can work on or knows a dependable mechanic who will not rob them (not a dealership mechanic). I had thought about restoring, but would prefer to invest into a VW Bus for a project. I estimated that I would have spent roughly $5500 to restore the way I wanted. This car is able to be test driven and I really would only prefer to sell to someone that will do her justice. I am slightly attached to her for the good times had over the years. This is not a desperate sell. The price is reluctantly and indeed firm.
